Your tasks We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in energy systems modeling for research related to future resilient, fossil-free, and flexible energy systems. The position is located at Linköping University, Department of Economic and Industrial Development (IEI), Division of Energy Systems. The research is conducted within national and international projects focusing on energy system transition, electrification, flexibility, energy resilience, sector integration, and energy-intensive industry. The work takes place in close collaboration with industry, public actors, and other research environments. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will primarily conduct research. Teaching may also be included in your duties, but no more than one-fifth of your working time. Your qualifications To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, you must hold a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree. Your degree must be completed by the time the employment decision is made. It is advantageous if your degree was completed no more than three years before the application deadline for this position. If there are special circumstances, an earlier completion may be considered, for example due to various types of statutory leave. We are seeking candidates with a doctoral degree in, for example, energy systems, energy engineering, or another relevant field. It is particularly advantageous to have experience with: energy systems modeling, modeling of flexibility or energy markets, industrial energy systems, energy resilience and energy security, Python-based analysis, optimization methods, work in interdisciplinary projects, and collaboration with industry or the public sector. Great emphasis will be placed on scientific competence, analytical ability, and the ability to work independently and in research collaborations. Since the research is conducted in international environments, excellent ability to communicate in English, both spoken and written, is required. Your workplace You will work in the Division of Energy Systems. The Division of Energy Systems conducts research on sustainable energy systems from technical, economic, and societal perspectives. The research includes, among other things, energy efficiency, energy markets, electrification, industrial transition, flexibility, energy policy, and energy systems analysis. This position is linked to research projects on resilient energy systems and energy-intensive industry, focusing on how future energy systems can be developed to combine robustness, flexibility, competitiveness, and sustainability. Example research questions include energy security, sector integration, industrial flexibility, energy storage, and management of energy system disruptions. The project is conducted in collaboration with universities, research institutes, industry, and public actors. Among industry-related questions are, for example, modeling of flexibility and energy resilience in the pulp and paper industry. About the position This is a fixed-term employment for three years. Start date by agreement. Employment as a postdoctoral researcher is full-time. A security check may be conducted before an employment decision is made.
