Would you like to build and lead an entirely new visitor destination at one of Sweden's most renowned locations? High above the Carl Johans locks in Berg in Linköping Municipality, Göta Canal's new visitor center is taking shape. Here a new attraction is being created with exhibitions, café and restaurant, and conference facilities in the heart of one of Göta Canal's most visited areas. The goal is to welcome approximately 100,000 visitors per year while developing Berg from a strong summer destination to a location with activities throughout much of the year for individual visitors, groups, businesses, and schools. We are now seeking you to take on the overall responsibility for building, establishing, operating, and developing the business. About the Role As Site Manager, you will have overall responsibility for Göta Canal's Visitor Center in Berg. The role encompasses profit responsibility, budget responsibility, personnel responsibility, and operational responsibility, and you will lead both commercial and operational development. You will be part of AB Göta kanalbolag's management team and report directly to the CEO. Before opening, you will play a central role in building the organization, working methods, staffing, processes, and commercial offerings. After that, you will be responsible for daily operations and for developing the business over time. You will have personnel responsibility for two to three permanent employees as well as seasonal and hourly staff. Your Assignment You are responsible for ensuring the visitor center reaches its financial and operational targets. This includes, among other things: Managing budgets, revenues, costs, results, forecasting, and follow-up. Leading daily operations and ensuring staffing, service, safety, and work environment standards. Creating world-class hospitality and visitor experiences. Developing sales, new revenue streams, and commercial offerings. Developing business within groups, corporations, schools, conferences, and events. Leading and developing staff and building an organization with clear goals and responsibilities. Coordinating operations and stakeholders within the facility. Developing partnerships with businesses, the tourism industry, municipality, region, and Göta Canal's partners. You will work closely with the company's other functions including marketing, finance/HR, and operational canal activities. Who We Are Seeking We are seeking a confident, business-driven, and engaged leader with a strong sense of hospitality and visitor experience. You combine strategic ability with operational drive and thrive switching between business development, leadership, finance, and daily operations. We believe you have: Relevant academic education or equivalent experience in areas such as tourism, sales, retail, finance, or operations management. Documented experience in leadership and personnel responsibility. Experience with budget responsibility, profit responsibility, and operational responsibility. Experience in sales and business development. Ability to develop and structure operations. Good communication skills in Swedish and English.
