Planning Architect

The Community Development Administration is one of Mjölby Municipality's six departments, responsible for several central community functions. With approximately 450 employees, we work on planning, development and management of the municipality's infrastructure, properties, parks and outdoor environments. The department is also responsible for water and sewage operations, waste management, meal services, facility maintenance and emergency services. As a planning architect, you will become part of the City Planning Office, where we are responsible for the municipality's physical planning, from comprehensive plans that guide long-term development to detailed plans that regulate land and water use as well as construction. You will report directly to the City Planning Director and be part of an engaged and competent team with broad experience in community development. The role involves close collaboration with many actors in the community development process, both internally and externally. WORK TASKS As a planning architect with us, you will not only get a stimulating and responsible assignment. Together with your colleagues, you are responsible for driving and handling the entire process of working with comprehensive plans and detailed plans from early stages to completion. We work in project form where each plan is handled by working groups with the required expertise. The planning projects range from small residential projects to complex detailed plans for urban transformation projects, large residential areas and business sites. As a planning architect, you will work with the municipality's long-term comprehensive planning and other strategic planning documents. You will also project lead detailed plans and assist colleagues in other planning projects. You are the presenting officer in matters concerning physical planning and serve as an important resource for the municipality's various departments on planning matters, where you contribute expertise and a holistic perspective. QUALIFICATIONS To succeed and thrive as a planning architect with us, you must have: • A university or college education as an architect, planning architect, community planning or equivalent, minimum 4 years. • Work-related experience in physical planning, minimum 5 years, with solid knowledge of current planning and building legislation and the Environmental Code. • Work-related experience in comprehensive planning in municipal operations. • Very good computer skills, especially in mapping programs such as CAD and GIS. • Class B driver's license. We consider it advantageous if you have: • Specialist knowledge in GIS programming for analysis or other relevant specialist knowledge and experience, such as urban architect, building and urban space design, environmental impact assessments or project management. You have a high ability to plan and organize your work and you can easily set goals, organize resources and follow up and complete activities. You deliver results, both in terms of quality and productivity. We also see that you carefully analyze and evaluate different types of data to draw well-considered conclusions and to create functioning solutions. Furthermore, you have the ability to create and maintain good relationships, both internally and externally. You collaborate well with people in different contexts and roles. You have the ability to speak clearly and radiate credibility and confidence. Finally, we see that you can give presentations and lectures and adapt these to the audience's needs and feedback.
