Personal Assistant for a Child

Job Responsibilities As a personal assistant, your primary task is to provide support and care to the person eligible for assistance services based on their assistance decision and implemented care plan. Documentation is recorded in the social journal. The work is performed based on the individual's influence, participation, and self-determination with attentiveness and respect. You will be working with a child born in 2017 who needs daily support due to significant functional variation. As a personal assistant, your responsibilities vary and are primarily performed in the individual's home. The home is located within a 5km radius outside the city center. Support includes daily hygiene, dressing and undressing, tube feeding, mobility assistance, play, and helping the child do as much as possible of what a child their age normally does. Currently, we are looking for a committed employee who can work day/evening shifts and every other weekend. The work is performed according to a fixed six-week schedule, with day and evening shifts as well as weekends. During the weeks, there is school two days/week, swimming one day/week, and daily training at home. The work team consists of three day/evening staff and three night staff. This is a permanent full-time position (100%). As of fall 2025, the assistance services have transitioned to VAS (activity-adapted schedules), and personal assistance staff will be offered full-time positions within Örnsköldsviks municipality. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is a nursing assistant or has other training or experience that the employer deems sufficient. We prefer that you have further training or educational background in functional disabilities. Experience working in health and care is advantageous. Experience with non-verbal communication, tube feeding, epilepsy, breathing masks, cough machines, medication delegation, and use of mobility aids is also advantageous. It is important that you enjoy and are comfortable working with people, and that you are flexible and open to new ideas and ways of working to meet the assistance user's needs and wishes. Your interaction with the user and their family must be trustworthy, attentive, and calm. The position requires sufficient knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, to perform documentation and to advocate for the user. We place great importance on personal suitability for the position. Upon employment, you will need to provide a criminal record extract to your supervisor. You can order a criminal record extract from the Swedish Police. A valid driver's license, category B, and access to your own car are advantageous as they may facilitate the work. Accepted documents are passport, international ID card, driver's license plus identity certificate from the Swedish Tax Agency, or other ID documents that confirm citizenship. For some positions, excerpts from the police's suspicion and criminal registers may be required. We welcome language skills in Finnish and/or any of the Sami varieties, as Örnsköldsviks municipality is part of both the Finnish and Sami administrative areas. In our municipality, a number of positions are placed in security classifications, so security vetting may be conducted. These positions may require Swedish citizenship.
