About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now seeking more employees. We are the authority responsible for correctional facilities, probation services, detention centers, and inmate transport. Learning Center is a national organization where the Adult Education section provides education for clients of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. At each correctional facility in the country and certain detention centers, there are one or more learning centers where teachers provide instruction at basic and upper secondary levels, equivalent to municipal adult education, as well as Swedish language education for immigrants. Adult education is nationally coordinated and organized so that studies function regardless of which facility a client is placed at and even if they are transferred during their studies. We are now seeking a pedagogical mentor for a fixed-term employment of 6 months. Job Description The role of pedagogical mentor is similar to work as a teaching assistant or student assistant within the school system. It means you support students in their learning, contribute to structure and study environment, and facilitate the teaching instructor. However, you are not responsible for teaching or grading. You work closely with students to create structure, motivation, and favorable conditions for learning. You provide practical and pedagogical support in their studies and contribute to a well-functioning study environment. Teaching is individualized and takes place at the Gävle detention center and the Gävle correctional facility. Qualifications You have good pedagogical understanding and the ability to meet people based on their different circumstances. You are clear, organized, and have the ability to motivate others in their learning process. You work independently and take responsibility for your tasks, while also having good collaboration skills and enjoying close cooperation with colleagues. You communicate well, are attentive, and have a professional approach. We are seeking someone who has: Upper secondary school diploma Experience working in upper secondary school or adult education Ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish Good computer skills and experience working with digital support systems It is also meritorious to have: Education relevant to mentoring and learning in lower secondary, upper secondary, or adult education Experience in supportive or mentoring roles within education Other Information The Swedish Prison and Probation Service has decided to remove the personal letter and replace it with selection questions that are relevant to the position.
