Description
To meet future demands, Säffle and Åmål municipalities have a joint technology and recreation department responsible for water and sewage, waste and sanitation, streets, parks, recreation, facility maintenance, GIS, and environment – which have key roles in ensuring that numerous community functions operate and develop.
The park and recreation operations' mission is to promote public health and attractive recreational areas. The operations are led by the Recreation Manager, where two operations leaders are responsible for work supervision within the park/recreation unit and the swimming hall unit, respectively.
Responsibilities
As a park maintenance worker, you are our face to the public and ensure that our municipalities are attractive and pleasant places to live and spend time in year-round.
You will work with varying tasks in the municipalities' public spaces. This includes maintenance and care of green areas, playgrounds, trees, and equipment. This also includes public landscaping and sanitation. Common tasks include machinery work, planting, watering, pruning, clearing, weed control, trash bin and toilet emptying, maintenance work, etc. Handling of fault reports in our operational systems is also included.
On-call duty may be part of the work in the form of snow removal and/or anti-icing treatment.
Your work area covers both Säffle and Åmål. This means you are expected to work in both municipalities based on the unit's needs.
Qualifications
Experience in park/grounds maintenance
Machinery experience
Familiarity with digital tools such as computer and mobile phone
It is meritorious if you have secondary education in green area maintenance, land and construction, or equivalent.
It is meritorious if you hold a C driving license.
As a person, you take great responsibility and have the drive and commitment to develop operations with good planning ability. You are attracted to working with community development and are good at collaborating as well as creating and maintaining good relationships. The position requires you to be flexible and able to work across all operational areas of the unit when needed. You are solution-oriented and skilled at working both independently and in a team. You have computer skills.
Terms
On-call duty may be included in the position.
