Latvijas Etnogrāfiskais brīvdabas muzejs (Reg. No. 90000053011) invites applications for Head of the Architecture and Restoration Department (professional classifier code 1213 05) for a full-time position of indefinite duration Responsibilities: participate in developing the museum's policies and strategies, as well as annual work plans and reports in the field of architectural and restoration work, provide recommendations for ensuring the museum's operations and development; conduct survey and documentation of the museum's collections and historic structures, determine which exhibits require restoration and which methodology to use, prepare appropriate technical specifications for procurements, contracts, and other documentation; manage ethnographic and non-standard project development, develop comprehensive solutions at the architectural and territorial scale, develop architectural concepts, spatial development solutions, and proposals for preserving and integrating cultural-historical environments into modern museum infrastructure; ensure compliance with construction projects and building codes, evaluate the quality of design documentation, verify that architectural solutions align with cultural heritage preservation principles, regulatory requirements, and the Museum's development needs; conduct inspections of buildings, structures, and engineering communications, determine their technical condition, prepare technical reports, defect records and estimates, as well as prepare architectural and artistic inventory materials, building measurements, and technical documentation updates; provide recommendations and calculations for territorial planning, improvement, and maintenance activities, evaluate the impact of architectural and landscape solutions on the Museum's cultural-historical environment and exhibition quality; develop proposals for the Museum's territorial functional zoning, construction development, infrastructure improvements, landscape and cultural-historical environment preservation and development, establishing architectural quality criteria and territorial development guidelines; ensure preservation and non-alteration of the historical, stylistic, aesthetic, and technical information regarding objects' manufacturing period and method; control and coordinate the quality and timeline compliance of outsourced service providers; organize and coordinate the Museum's participation in territorial planning, local planning, detailed planning, thematic planning, and other spatial development planning document development and approval processes; evaluate the impact of regulatory acts, development planning documents, and investment projects on the Museum's territorial development and prepare opinions, proposals, and recommendations; ensure the performance of the museum's critical functions during emergency situations; organize and coordinate architectural research, measurement, and documentation of the Museum's buildings, structures, and territories, ensuring information accuracy and accumulation; ensure preparation of design briefs, coordinate the design process, and participate in approval of design solutions; perform author supervision functions or coordinate their execution in the Museum's construction, restoration, and territorial development projects in accordance with regulatory requirements; prepare technical specifications, methodological guidelines, and recommendations in architecture and restoration for the Museum's structural units; participate in the work of building intent, objective, design, and restoration procurement commissions, providing professional architectural expertise; coordinate the accumulation and maintenance of digital architectural documentation, building measurements, drawings, photographic records, and other data related to cultural heritage preservation; evaluate opportunities for integrating energy efficiency, environmental accessibility, and sustainable construction solutions in the Museum's buildings and territory while ensuring preservation of cultural-historical values. Requirements for Candidates: higher education in architecture or civil engineering; experience in an equivalent position for more than 3 years; knowledge of Latvian history, architecture, and restoration; ability to plan, manage, and independently perform architectural work in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Latvia, European Union legal norms, and international conventions in the field of cultural heritage preservation and restoration; ability to implement measures for cultural value protection and preservation; ability to collaborate and work with people of various ages and organize team work; ability to present to an audience, including formulating and expressing opinions, preparing and delivering presentations; ability to organize and plan work, take initiative and responsibility; knowledge in cultural heritage conservation and restoration; mastery of the state language (highest level); foreign language knowledge (English, German, or other languages) – speaking, reading, writing (foreign language skills are necessary to ensure effective cooperation with foreign experts, international partners and institutions, as well as to utilize professional literature, regulatory documents, and best practices in the restoration field in an international environment); ability to work with computers (MS Office) and other information tools; organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
