The Chief Physician Role
At the Department of Surgery in Eksjö, we offer accessible and comprehensive diagnostic and interventional endoscopic services, with ERCP being a key component. We also have expertise in stenting, APC, peroral cholangioscopy (Spyglass), and all diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound procedures for the region are performed in Eksjö. Upper gastrointestinal surgery in Eksjö is primarily focused on benign conditions, with emphasis on gallbladder, hiatal, and metabolic surgery. Palliative oncologic surgery is performed in consultation with the Thoracic Surgery team in Linköping.
Your Future Workplace
Since 2017, the Department of Surgery is a regional clinic with operations at three locations: Eksjö, Jönköping, and Värnamo. The Operations Manager has overall responsibility, but there is delegated local responsibility at each site. All three locations have emergency departments with 24/7 acute surgical care, including operating rooms and intensive care. The surgical services at Höglandssjukhuset in Eksjö include a complete acute care program, as well as sections for upper and lower gastrointestinal surgery, endocrine surgery, hernia repair, and abdominal wall surgery. Through strategic efforts and dedicated staff, the region consistently ranks among the top healthcare providers in the country in comparative assessments.

Your Profile
You are a licensed physician with specialist competence in upper gastrointestinal surgery. ERCP experience is desirable but not required. You have a professional approach, are flexible, and adapt your behavior to different situations. You work well with others. We value engaged, responsible individuals with strong interpersonal skills. Personal suitability will be given significant weight in the selection process.
