About the Role

We are now looking for a fiber optic technician who can work in southern and central Sweden. Are you an independent problem-solver who enjoys working at great heights? Then you could be Vattenfall Services' new fiber optic technician!
The Fiber Optic Technician Role
Our main task is to offer our customers qualified services within communication systems. The fiber network we primarily work with is used for control and monitoring of electrical grids as well as rental to external customers. The majority of the fiber network we work with is co-built with overhead lines at 40-400 kV.
We offer you independent and responsible work, and you will have great opportunity to manage and structure your own work. The work is varied and therefore your days will look very different. There are also good opportunities for continued personal and technical development.
Your main areas of responsibility:
Assist with troubleshooting on our customers' fiber networks
Perform annual maintenance measurements
Perform measurements according to customer request, e.g. OTDR and power measurements
Actively participate in and plan projects together with the project manager
Prepare documentation of completed work
Manage supplier and contractor contacts
Travel with overnight stays is a natural part of work as a fiber optic technician. Therefore, it is important that you are a person who enjoys a varied daily routine with southern and central Sweden as your workplace. The number of nights away varies depending on the period and workload.
Requirements
We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a service-oriented manner, both independently and together with others. You appreciate solving problems and contributing to making everything work, even when challenges arise. To thrive in this role, it is important that you enjoy working outdoors and at great heights.
We know that you will develop together with us. But we would like to see that you already have:
Education in fiber technology or electrical power. Alternatively, equivalent experience
Experience working with fiber networks or other field work in electrical power/electrical installation
Good knowledge of Swedish and English
Class B driver's license
Meritorious:
Experience with OTDR measurements
Certification as a fiber technician
Training in ESA, pole climbing, or electrical safety leadership
