Working with coordinating troubleshooting means being in the center of events at our Traffic Control Center. Together with your colleagues at the Traffic Control Center, you play an important role in ensuring that people and goods move safely and on time. In our operations, you will be called a Railway Operations Technician and are responsible for monitoring the railway's technical systems around the clock and handling incoming alarms. Working as a Railway Operations Technician involves, among other things: Receiving incoming alarms through various technical systems and telephone Alerting and coordinating contractors for troubleshooting on the railway Cooperating with, among others, emergency services, police, and other contacts at Trafikverket Maintaining contact with various external parties during accidents and incidents Documenting incidents in our technical systems Monitoring via surveillance cameras Qualifications Who is right for this role? We're looking for a service-oriented team player who listens and adapts their communication to ensure a shared understanding of the situation. The role places high demands on safety awareness, which for us means you understand risks, consequences, and carefully follow regulations in your work. You act professionally and confidently in all contacts and are responsible and methodical. You are comfortable working independently and making decisions even in high-pressure situations. With good adaptability, you maintain calm and focus both in high-pressure situations and during quieter times at work. To become a Railway Operations Technician, you must have: Completed upper secondary education Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish Interest and ability to work shifts (day, evening, weekend, night, and public holidays) It is an advantage but not a requirement if you have: Good ability to communicate verbally by telephone Good computer skills and experience working with digital tools Experience working with rapid pace changes Experience working in a role where following procedures and regulations has been important Experience working where safety has been a focus Additional Information Shift Work All Railway Operations Technicians work alternating day, evening, night, weekend, and public holiday shifts according to a rotating schedule. It is important that you consider your ability to work shifts before submitting your application. Basic Training This is an important role for Trafikverket and we therefore invest in you with internal training at Trafikverket School in Ängelholm alternated with practical training at your local Traffic Control Center. You don't need to have any prior knowledge of railways. The training starting in January takes on average 6 months, with a total of approximately 5 weeks held in Ängelholm (with mandatory attendance and accommodation). Travel to other locations also occurs. You begin with a 6-month probationary employment that becomes a permanent position provided everything goes well. Read more about basic training on our website Key Roles on the Railway About the Recruitment Process Several parts of the recruitment process will require your physical presence as a candidate, which means that in certain recruitment stages you may need to take leave from any job or studies to continue participating in the recruitment process A recruitment day that includes, among other things, work tests and work-related exercises will be held in Gävle during week 38. An individual psychological assessment will be conducted digitally during weeks 39-40. Final interviews are planned to be conducted digitally during weeks 40-41. Railway Operations Technician is a safety-critical role and to be employed you must meet certain security and health requirements.
