The hand surgery activity at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) provides highly specialized care for children and adults with hand injuries and hand diseases. The unit is a distinct regional facility with comprehensive highly specialized clinical activities, education, and internationally renowned research. Our service area encompasses the southern healthcare region with over 1.8 million inhabitants. Trauma is a large and important part of our clinical work. Under one roof, we have brought together surgery, inpatient care, outpatient care, rehabilitation, and administration. Hand Surgery's operating department is part of the specialized surgery operations area at Sus. It is a smaller operating department located in pleasant facilities with fantastic views of Pildammsparken. The department consists of five operating rooms, its own sterile processing unit, and a postoperative unit. DUTIES Are you an engaged, knowledgeable, and positive operating room nurse with an interest in hand surgery? If so, you should apply to us! At our hand surgery operating department, we offer you exciting and varied work. With us, you will meet a diverse patient population, from small children to elderly people. We perform various types of elective and acute surgeries in soft tissue, bone and vascular surgery, as well as arthroscopies primarily on the hand and arm. As an operating room nurse with us, you typically care for approximately two to four patients per day and always have the opportunity to sit down during instrumentation. What sets us apart from other operating departments is that we have our own sterile processing unit where we clean, package, and sterilize our hand surgery specialized instruments. Working in the sterile unit is part of the operating room nurse's duties and is experienced as stimulating and educational. As an operating room nurse, you work in a team together with other professional categories to provide patients with the best possible care. Thanks to our wish schedule system with limited evening and weekend shifts, you can greatly influence your schedule. When you set your schedule, you also choose your work assignment for your shift—you either work in the operating room, act as a runner supporting your colleagues during changes and breaks, or work in our sterile processing unit. With this choice of options, you get varied and stimulating work, which our operating room nurses appreciate. Hand surgery activity is characterized by a strong research tradition, and there are excellent opportunities to develop within the hand surgery field based on your own interests and the unit's needs. QUALIFICATIONS To be a candidate for this position, you must be a licensed nurse with authorization to work in Swedish healthcare and have specialist training in operating room nursing. Swedish language skills at least equivalent to level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale is a requirement. If you have experience documenting in Melior or working with Orbit, we see this as an advantage. We hope you communicate and collaborate easily, and have an interest in developing within the field.
