The Orthopedic Operations area at Skåne University Hospital is one of the country's largest orthopedic operations with approximately 500 employees and a strong national and international reputation. We provide highly specialized and comprehensive orthopedic care within all subspecialties and combine clinical operations with research, education, and development. Each year we conduct approximately 69,000 outpatient visits, nearly 4,000 inpatient admissions, and around 7,500 surgeries at our facilities in Lund, Malmö, and Trelleborg. RESPONSIBILITIES As a manager leading other managers, you are responsible for your entire operation's results. You create success in your assignment through your direct reporting managers, whose leadership you highly value and prioritize for further development. Together with your management group, you develop the operation. You translate strategy into action, coordinate flows, promote collaboration internally and externally, and lead development and change initiatives long-term with a focus on creating value for those we serve. As Area Manager for outpatient care, you have overall responsibility for clinics, physiotherapy, and secretariat and administration in Lund and Malmö. The assignment includes responsibility for operations, quality, accessibility, finances, work environment, workforce planning, and strategic development. We are facing continued development of our outpatient care with high ambitions for accessibility, production management, patient experience, and a sustainable work environment. As Area Manager, you lead the development of data-driven operations management and work to strengthen production management and optimize patient flows and resource utilization through modern tools and methods for capacity and production planning. An important part of the assignment is creating sustainable conditions for managers and staff to develop and thrive, as well as contributing to long-term sustainable workforce planning. You lead through others and are the direct manager for six unit managers as well as key personnel. You report to the Operations Manager and are also a member of the Operations area's management group, contributing actively to the development of the entire operations area. You work closely with the Operations Manager, Area Manager for inpatient care, section managers, and support functions, and collaborate with other operations within the hospital and with union representatives. You become part of a management group characterized by engagement, collaboration, and future focus. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone with a college or university degree in healthcare or other education that the employer deems equivalent. You have several years of experience as a manager and leader, preferably from complex operations within healthcare. Experience leading managers and developing management organizations is particularly valuable, as is management training. We would like to see documented experience with change and development work with documented good results, as well as experience with operations involving large patient or production flows. You have strong analytical skills and an interest in operations management where data is used to support decisions regarding capacity, accessibility, and resource utilization. Experience developing operations through active work with work environment, workforce planning, and sustainable leadership is also valuable. You are a confident and courageous leader who builds trust through clarity, presence, and genuine engagement for both operations and people. You have strong strategic ability and can shift between long-term development work and the operation's daily needs. You are goal and results-oriented while recognizing the importance of participation and collaboration to achieve sustainable results. As a leader, you coach and develop your managers and create conditions for them to succeed in their assignments. You build good relationships, promote collaboration, and have the ability to unite people around common goals.
