The division is facing an exciting development where a newly created management level in the form of area managers will be filled. We are therefore looking for an area manager for public environment who wants to be part of shaping the working methods of the future, where trust-based leadership, clear direction and strong collaboration are central success factors. The Public Environment area is responsible for management, operations and development of the municipality's land and public environments, such as parks, natural areas and streets. The Public Environment area is organized in three units with corresponding unit managers: Land Management, City Environment and Operations, and Reinvestment and Strategy. Your tasks As area manager for public environment, you have overall responsibility for operations, finances and results within your area. You lead through others and drive both operational delivery and long-term development. You participate in central forums within the urban development process and are responsible for translating political priorities into concrete operations. The role involves a strong focus on strategic work, coordination and creating good collaboration within the organization. Your assignment includes, among other things: - Lead and develop managers and lead the area's management group - Have overall responsibility for operations, budget, work environment and personnel - Drive strategic issues and development work within the area - Contribute to steering committees and forums linked to urban development - Ensure staffing, long-term planning and efficient coordination - Handle board matters and translate political decisions into operations - Strengthen collaboration within the division and with other parts of the organization Who are you? You have a college degree in an area relevant to the role, or work experience that the employer deems equivalent. It is meritorious if you have completed leadership training. You have experience of leadership in a larger organization, preferably within the public sector, and you have worked with change management and in a client role regarding contract and consulting operations. Furthermore, you are accustomed to working proactively and with efficient coordination in prioritized issues and assignments, and have experience of the urban development process. Experience of leading through other managers is meritorious, as is experience of contract matters. You have good knowledge of operations management and change work as well as systematic work environment management. You also have knowledge of public procurement law and business relationships and can interpret contracts and relevant laws. The role also requires good knowledge of LOU (Public Procurement Act) and of investments in municipal operations. You are a confident and clear leader who has the ability to lead, coach and develop your employees. You have good organizational understanding and the ability to drive development with a clear strategic perspective. Furthermore, you are collaboration-oriented and contribute to a good team climate while being reliable, having good self-awareness and maintaining focus even in pressured situations.
