Clinical Studies Sweden - Forum South is a unique regional support function with the mission to support and promote clinical research in the Southern Healthcare Region. We provide support and services to researchers, research personnel, and life science companies conducting clinical studies in healthcare. Through this work, we contribute to making Sweden an attractive country for conducting clinical studies, which help develop new and innovative products and treatment methods that benefit patients and society. Forum South also serves as the regional node for the Southern Healthcare Region within the national framework of Clinical Studies Sweden, which is supported by the Swedish Research Council. Our organization employs approximately forty staff members and is located at Skåne University Hospital in Lund.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a National Advisor, you will be the Grants Office expert resource for financing from Swedish organizations and authorities such as the Swedish Research Council, Forte, VINNOVA, and foundation funding. You will support clinical researchers from call interpretation and idea development through to completed applications, with a focus on improving quality and accuracy in texts and budgets. You have deep understanding of how the Swedish Research Council's application process works, what Forte values in clinical research, and can serve as a sounding board for structuring applications for projects targeting the Cancer Society's calls. You are an active advisor who can challenge and strengthen the researcher's argumentation.
Your responsibilities include:
• providing individual advisory support to research groups preparing applications to national, government research funders, and subject-specific foundations relevant to clinical research
• interpreting and communicating funders' assessment criteria, priorities, and requirements to research groups
• reviewing application texts for scientific rigor, logic, and relevance to call requirements
• supporting research groups in selecting the right funding type and funder given the project phase and researchers' qualifications
• collaborating with colleagues during the application process for coordination and budget planning
• coordinating internal processes including internal review and deadline management for applications
• organizing training sessions and writing workshops ahead of major national calls (for example, from the Swedish Research Council, Forte, Cancer Society)
• monitoring the calls calendar and informing research groups about upcoming opportunities
• systematizing feedback from funders (reviewer comments, funding rationales) and sharing lessons learned with research groups
• collaborating within the research funding ecosystem.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with:
• university education in life sciences such as medicine, health sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, or natural sciences, or other equivalent education that we deem relevant for the position
• documented experience with national application processes - as an applicant, reviewer, or administrative support
• good understanding of relevant calls for clinical research, or innovation-oriented calls from VINNOVA
• ability to write and provide feedback on scientific texts in Swedish and English
• experience working in a service-oriented manner with multiple parallel contacts while meeting deadlines.
It is a merit if you have:
• a doctoral degree, preferably with documented application experience as a primary or co-applicant from the government funders mentioned above
• experience from a Grants Office, Research Service, or similar function
• experience with foundation funding in medical research (Heart-Lung Foundation, Cancer Society, Childhood Cancer Foundation, etc.)
• experience as a reviewer for a research funder.
The researcher's needs are central to your work, and with genuine service focus and strong communication skills, you build trust throughout the application process. You have strong analytical ability and can quickly identify areas for development in an application. Through constructive and concrete feedback, you help researchers strengthen their projects without taking over their voice or ideas.
The role requires managing multiple processes in parallel, which demands structure, strong planning ability, and the capacity to deliver high quality work even as deadlines approach. Teaching, leading workshops, and sharing knowledge with others comes naturally to you, and you enjoy building long-term relationships with the research groups you support over time.
