Music Teacher at Montessori School Älvkullen
About the Workplace
Montessori School Älvkullen is a small preschool through grade 9 school with approximately 140 students, located in central Kungälv. The school is situated halfway up Fontinberget, with views over the city and the Nordre River. Proximity to Fontin's sports center and nature areas provides us with excellent opportunities to use nature in teaching and during our outdoor days.
Here you will encounter a warm and welcoming atmosphere where students and staff know each other and where everyone is seen. The school also has a preschool with approximately 24 children, and the organization is a workplace for around 30 staff members.
We have our own kitchen where food is prepared from scratch every day. Students eat in their classrooms, which contributes to calm and harmonious meals.
Job Responsibilities
We are now seeking a music teacher for a permanent part-time position.
You are responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and assessing music instruction based on the curriculum and other national educational guidelines. The work also includes creating a safe, inspiring, and accessible learning environment where students have the opportunity to develop both individually and together with others.
The position is approximately 20–60 percent. The extent depends on which grade levels become relevant as well as whether you have interest and competence in additional subjects or wish to work with support services in other parts of the organization.
As a music teacher, you also have a natural role in planning and implementing the school's joint activities and celebrations, such as the Lucia celebration and school graduations. This work is carried out together with the school's teaching team.
As a new teacher with us, you will receive support from a colleague who sets aside time each week to help you get started in your work and the organization. The support can address both pedagogical and professional questions as well as practical routines in daily operations.
Working at Älvkullen
Älvkullen is a small school with short decision-making paths and close collaboration among colleagues, students, and guardians. Our small student groups provide excellent opportunities to get to know the students and adapt teaching to their different needs and conditions. We have a maximum of 18 students born in the same year.
Instruction is age-mixed in the preschool and younger grades and gradually transitions to instruction directed at individual grade levels. Teachers work closely together both within and across grade levels.
Our small size creates great opportunities for participation and influence, but it also requires all staff members to take shared responsibility for the organization and contribute where needed.
We actively work toward a good work environment, a safe school setting, and a culture where we treat each other with respect.
Montessori Pedagogy
The school's work is based on Maria Montessori's pedagogy. This includes, among other things, working with specially designed Montessori materials in combination with other teaching materials and instructional methods.
An important starting point is that students should develop independence based on their age and maturity. All staff therefore actively work to, in Maria Montessori's words, "help children help themselves."
Prior experience with Montessori pedagogy is a merit but not a requirement. What matters is that you are curious about our approach and want to contribute to the continued development of our organization.
Qualifications
We are primarily seeking someone who is a certified teacher with qualification to teach music.
You:
take responsibility for students' learning and development,
can meet students both individually and in groups based on their different needs,
have strong ability to plan, implement, assess, and document instruction,
create good and trusting relationships with students and guardians,
collaborate well with colleagues and contribute to shared responsibility,
work in a structured manner and keep the student in focus.
Prior teaching experience is a merit. Great weight will be placed on personal suitability.
Employment Terms
Employment Type: Permanent position. Probationary employment may be applied.
Extent: Approximately 20–60 percent.
Salary: Individual salary setting according to collective agreement.
Start Date: By agreement.
Selection and interviews take place on an ongoing basis. Therefore, do not delay in submitting your application.
