JOB DUTIES As a mother tongue teacher and study counselor, you support students in their language and knowledge development using their mother tongue, and serve as a cultural and linguistic bridge. You do this through close collaboration with the student's mentor and subject teachers. You deliver high-quality instruction and maintain an inclusive approach. You will work with students of various ages. The position may be located at one or more school units. The role includes: • Planning mother tongue instruction based on the curriculum in the mother tongue subject • Planning study guidance based on the student's and subject's needs • Planning your instruction in collaboration with subject teachers, mentors, and other teaching staff to meet the student's individual needs • Using digital tools for both student learning and planning and documentation of instruction • Responsibility for assessment and grading • Reporting attendance • Being the public face of Järfälla Language Center QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for you who: • Have the current language as your mother tongue or have documented good knowledge of the language • Have very good knowledge of Swedish and your mother tongue in both spoken and written form • Have good knowledge of the culture and school system in the countries from which students come • Have good knowledge of Swedish culture and the Swedish school system • Have knowledge of the Swedish school curriculum and other steering documents • Have teacher training or equivalent pedagogical education and experience • Have experience with mother tongue instruction and study guidance • Have the ability to meet students individually and in groups and to build good relationships • Have good computer skills • Have great flexibility and a solution-focused approach as rapid changes may occur in the assignment based on school needs • Are accustomed to taking significant personal responsibility and can work independently As a mother tongue teacher, you meet a large number of staff members with whom you need to be able to collaborate, both mother tongue colleagues and subject teachers at the schools. The ability to collaborate with all your colleagues and other staff is a prerequisite for working with us.
