Boliden is a high-technology metals company with its own mines and smelters that works long-term to guarantee society's access to base and precious metals. For a century, our work has been part of the value chains that have shaped modern society. At Boliden, we know that the metals we extract and make available will play a crucial role in the future as well – what matters is how we produce them. Join us and drive change for future generations.
Boliden actively works with and has high demands on environment, climate, health, safety, and quality. Do you want to work close to operations and make a concrete difference in daily environmental work? As an Environmental Coordinator, you will have an operative and central role where you contribute to ensuring that operations are conducted in line with applicable environmental requirements, permits, and internal goals.
We can offer you an interesting and exciting job with developmental challenges, rewarding social contacts, and a company culture based on good values.
We are now seeking two Environmental Coordinators for Aitik.
Your Role
As an Environmental Coordinator, you are responsible for coordinating and developing environmental work within operations by monitoring environmental impact, analyzing results, and ensuring that reporting is conducted correctly and in accordance with applicable requirements. You work both operatively and strategically, handling environmental issues in daily operations while contributing to long-term development of environmental and sustainability work. The role includes supporting the organization through advisory services, training, and development of procedures, as well as ensuring compliance with laws, permits, and internal governance documents, identifying risks, and driving improvements within the environmental area.
Your Team
As an Environmental Coordinator, you are part of the External Environment section, which is a central support and control function for all operations at Aitik. Your colleagues will consist of environmental coordinators and environmental engineers with a focus on environmental issues in the mining industry. The section is part of the Sustainability department and is also part of Boliden's environmental network, which includes staff functions at both business area and group levels.
Your Responsibilities
In this role, you work closely with production and projects, translating requirements into practical work methods and supporting the organization in succeeding in its environmental work. You become a key person in identifying improvement opportunities, managing deviations, and contributing to a sustainable and efficient operation.
You are responsible for collecting, quality assuring, analyzing, and reporting environmental data, such as emissions to air and water, as well as waste management. Here you have the opportunity to work in a structured and thorough manner, while using your analytical skills to make assessments and draw conclusions from data. Your work becomes an important decision-making basis and contributes directly to the operation's development and regulatory compliance.
The role also gives you the opportunity to work broadly with operative environmental issues by participating in and driving investigations, risk assessments, and follow-ups. You work closely with operations to ensure that legal requirements and permit conditions are met in practice and that correct measures are implemented and followed up. The role also includes contact with authorities and contributing to increased knowledge and engagement in the organization through support and training. Here you have the opportunity to combine operative work in operations with analysis, follow-up, and development – in a role where you can really make an impact.
You report to the Head of External Environment. The positions are located in Aitik, Gällivare, and refer to daytime work. Travel is part of the role.
Your Contribution
We see that you have university/college education with a focus on environment and that you have experience with environmental reporting. It is a merit to have experience working with environmental databases and GIS, to have knowledge of legal requirements and standards for sampling, and to have knowledge of the mining industry's environmental issues.
It is a merit if you have experience from heavy industry, preferably with a connection to mining operations. If you have worked with permit processes, that is also an advantage.
To thrive in the role, we believe you are someone who enjoys collaborating and building relationships, as you have many contact points both internally and externally. You work in a structured and systematic way, while having the ability to see the bigger picture and think long-term.
Additional requirements:
Swedish and English, spoken and written
Class B driver's license
Good computer skills
