About the Job You will be involved in various data collection and analysis activities conducted under the EU's data collection regulation and/or various projects the institute carries out on behalf of the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management. The work tasks include collection of various types of data through sampling programs aboard commercial fishing vessels as well as research vessels of different sizes. The work involves a great deal of fieldwork, which entails flexible working hours and some work on weekends. Additionally, the work tasks include analysis activities as well as some data processing and report writing. The analysis activities include ongoing and routine biological analysis of fish according to established criteria for age, length, weight, sex, and maturity assessment. Your Background We are looking for someone who is responsible and good at communicating. You enjoy working in a group but are also comfortable working independently if needed. You need to be thorough, accustomed to working systematically, and have a flexible approach. You have an interest in the marine environment, fish, and fishing. We will place great emphasis on your personal suitability. You should: have a solid interest in biology and fish. You may be trained as a biologist but could also have acquired knowledge in other ways have good seafaring experience have good experience with fieldwork have a driver's license for cars It is advantageous if you: have experience working on research vessels and/or commercial fishing vessels have experience with biological analysis of fish, particularly regarding age analysis and/or assessment of sexual maturity have experience with data management About Us At the Department of Aquatic Resources (SLU Aqua), we are passionate about our vision "strong fish stocks in healthy waters."
