Department of Clinical Sciences Would you like to strengthen the quality, safety, and resource utilization of our biomedical equipment at the university animal hospital and the Department of Clinical Sciences? We are now seeking a biomedical equipment project manager who wants to work closely with the clinical operations, providing strategic requirement specifications, support and training to staff, coordinating resources between the animal hospital's departments, and facilitating the use of medical technical equipment within the faculty. About the Role In this role, you will be part of the institution's administrative support function and serve as the connecting link between technology, regulations, and practical veterinary care. You will work in close dialogue with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, managers, and other support functions to translate clinical needs into clear specifications and sustainable work methods. Key Responsibilities Strategic Requirement Specifications and Needs Analysis: Map and analyze the need for new biomedical equipment together with operations managers and subject matter experts. You are responsible for developing professional requirement specifications, procurement documentation, and decision and profitability supporting materials. IT Integration and Data Security: Oversee the connection and integration between biomedical equipment and existing IT infrastructure. You ensure requirement specifications and regulatory compliance regarding network connections, cloud services, and secure handling of personal data and clinical data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Training and Operations Support: Design clear user procedures, manuals, and instructions. You plan and conduct training initiatives and provide ongoing educational support to clinical staff to ensure high compliance and confidence in equipment handling. Safety, Regulations, and Maintenance: Ensure structure and regulatory compliance, such as sterilization equipment, radiation protection, or handling of flammable materials. You also contribute to further developing systematic maintenance of the equipment. Process and System Support: Support operations in the development of digital tools and support systems linked to biomedical equipment and clinic-related workflows. Collaboration and Resource Efficiency at SLU: Develop the institution's collaboration within the university to coordinate, share, and optimize the use of biomedical equipment between different units and institutions to strengthen the university animal hospital as a research infrastructure. Your Background We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of the connections between technology, IT systems, security regulations, and clinical practice. You understand the importance of anchoring in daily work and have a pronounced pedagogical ability to explain, support, and engage employees in changes and new procedures. Qualifications Relevant education in biomedical engineering, engineering science, veterinary medicine/healthcare, or equivalent. Experience with biomedical equipment: Documented experience working with biomedical equipment, preferably from healthcare, veterinary medicine, or related technical/clinical environments. Requirement Specifications and Procurement: Practical experience with needs analysis, requirement specifications, and implementation of equipment (for example, diagnostic imaging, anesthesia equipment, or autoclaves). Project Management: Demonstrated ability to independently drive projects and processes from needs identification through implementation and follow-up. Biomedical IT and Data Security: Documented experience with integration between biomedical equipment and IT systems, including good understanding of cloud services, network security, and requirements for handling personal data (GDPR). Regulatory Knowledge: Good knowledge of regulations, quality systems, and safety requirements for medical technical equipment, medication management, physical security, and maintenance procedures. Pedagogical and Communication Skills: Ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in both Swedish and English, create accessible procedures and instructions, and conduct training for staff. Meritorious Experience with collaboration on shared resource utilization within academia, regional authorities, or larger organizations. You are thorough in your work and have good initiative and organizational ability. You have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and make priorities to complete things on time.
