Job Responsibilities With us, you will have a varied and practical role where you combine technical expertise with problem-solving in an environment filled with advanced medical technology. As a biomedical engineer, you will work with service, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, installation, and maintenance of medical technology equipment and systems – particularly in the operating room area. Here you will encounter technology at the frontline of healthcare: anesthesia equipment, surgical robots, operating lights, electrosurgical units, endoscopy and video equipment, and other surgical equipment. You will work practically and technically with the equipment – often directly in the operating room environment. Troubleshoot, test, and resolve technical problems on-site. Work closely with healthcare personnel to ensure that equipment functions optimally in patient-care situations. Participate and serve as a technical requirements specialist in procurements, and plan, install, and commission new operating room and surgical equipment. Support our clinics in lifecycle management of their medical technology equipment – from needs analysis and investment to service, upgrades, and decommissioning. The work also includes administrative tasks, such as documentation, follow-up, and registration of completed actions in our systems. Our operations are ISO 13485 certified, which means we work in a structured and quality-assured manner according to international standards for medical technology. We are careful to document all efforts and service actions to ensure high patient safety and traceability in everything we do. Focus within the technical areas depends on your background, but you will primarily work with equipment related to operating rooms, anesthesia, and surgery. Your work will be primarily based at Västmanlands Hospital Västerås, but may also include assignments at other hospitals and healthcare centers in the region. We are looking for someone who enjoys having tools in hand, working with screwdrivers, testing, and solving problems – and who gets energy from working practically with technology that makes a real difference in healthcare. You should also have the ability to install, configure, and maintain system environments connected to our medical technology equipment. At the same time, you need to be well-organized and administratively skilled, with the ability to carefully document, plan, and follow up on your work in our quality-assured systems. About the Workplace Medical Technology (MT) is part of Region Västmanland and consists of 20 employees. We are responsible for service and support of medical technology equipment and medical information systems at hospitals and healthcare centers throughout the region. If you have relevant professional experience, it will be assessed individually – your practical skills can make you fully qualified even if you do not have a traditional engineering degree. It is a merit if you are certified as a medical engineer according to MTF, have experience in medical technology work, particularly in operating rooms and surgery, or have knowledge in electronics, networks, computer technology, or control systems. You need to have good knowledge of Swedish and technical English, as well as the ability to carefully document service actions. We value that you are self-driven, thorough, and have a good ability to plan and organize your work. You are calm and can maintain focus in stressful situations.
