Climate Adaptation Specialist

Do you want to contribute to Sweden's climate adaptation efforts – so that society can meet today's and tomorrow's climate challenges? In the Department of Societal Planning, the Weather & Climate unit is responsible for producing processed information and statistics in meteorology, climate, air quality, and climate adaptation. The Climate Adaptation Group consists of eleven staff members with expert competence in climate adaptation. The group's main responsibilities are to carry out assignments for the National Knowledge Center for Climate Adaptation and to assist the independent National Expert Council for Climate Adaptation with secretarial support. In addition, there may be climate adaptation assignments for other government agencies as well as consulting projects from municipalities and the business sector. We are now seeking a new staff member to join the climate adaptation group. About the Position The position includes: - Gathering and developing knowledge regarding climate adaptation produced regionally, nationally, and internationally - Disseminating and making knowledge accessible so it is easy to understand and apply - Presenting, holding workshops, and providing education on climate adaptation - Implementing government assignments related to climate adaptation - Analyzing how climate adaptation work in Sweden is progressing - Developing methods and guidance for societal actors in climate adaptation Primarily, the position involves working for the National Knowledge Center for Climate Adaptation, but there will also be tasks that, time permitting, are performed for other operations within SMHI. About You We are seeking candidates with an academic degree (at least bachelor's level) in, for example, natural or social sciences, or other relevant education that SMHI considers equivalent. Beyond the above education requirements, we see that you have at least five years of professional experience in the field of climate adaptation or related fields. It is a merit if you have research experience in the climate adaptation field or related areas, and if you have previous experience with facilitation, such as moderating workshops or panel discussions. Great importance will be placed on your personal qualities. To succeed in the role, you must be confident and stable with good self-awareness. You plan, organize, and prioritize your work efficiently, are flexible, and have well-developed problem-solving and analytical abilities. Since the position involves extensive collaboration with others, you must be communicative and have an aptitude for creating and maintaining good relationships. You should have a strong interest in societal issues and particularly in how climate change impacts society and the environment. You have excellent knowledge of Swedish and good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, and are accustomed to working in Microsoft Office; Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
