About the Position In this role, you will hold a key position where you are responsible for developing and ensuring quality of analysis methods, laboratory equipment, and processes that are critical to our operations. You will be an important part of a knowledgeable team and have the opportunity to work both operationally and strategically in a business with high technical content and a strong focus on development. Your Responsibilities As a Materials Chemist/Materials Engineer, you will: - Oversee the development and quality assurance of chemical and physical analysis methods. - Work with equipment, maintenance, sampling, sample preparation, calibration, and method development. - Ensure and develop analysis methods including: WDXRF, Spark-OES, Inert Gas Fusion IR/TC/MS of C, S, O, N, Ar. - Lead investment and development projects within laboratory and analysis equipment. - Contribute to the development of the laboratory's IT environment and digital tools for increased quality and efficiency. - Work with quality assurance of raw materials and development of new steel grades. - Participate in problem-solving and serve as specialist support within materials analysis. - Document procedures, prepare instructions, and train colleagues as needed. - Build and develop external professional networks to stay current with technical developments in the field. Your Profile We are seeking someone who is analytical, driven, and enjoys combining theory and practice. You have a genuine interest in materials engineering, chemistry, and development work, and the ability to independently manage several activities in parallel. You are structured, thorough, and have strong technical interest with a problem-solving approach. You enjoy alternating between operational and strategic work and collaborate easily, sharing your knowledge with others. Furthermore, you are experienced in documenting, developing procedures, and training others, and have a strong drive to continuously improve the business. Qualifications Requirements - University degree in chemistry, materials engineering, physics, or related field (at least bachelor's level). - Minimum 5 years of experience in chemical laboratory work. - Good knowledge in: Materials analysis, Chemistry, Physics. - Good proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written. - Valid driver's license (Category B). - Ability to travel on business when needed. Meritorious - Master's or PhD degree in a relevant field. - Experience from the steel or metal industry. - Experience with sampling and sample preparation of raw materials. - Experience with WDXRF, Spark-OES, mass spectrometry, gas chromatography, and combustion analysis. - Knowledge of SEM/EDX, particle size measurement, and wet chemistry. - Experience with laboratory IT and digitalization. - Interest in and experience with AI-based tools. - Competence in radioactivity control or non-destructive testing. - Active participation in technical networks and industry forums.
