West Region Police Region West consists of Halland County and Västra Götaland County. Operations in the region are organized into five police districts: Fyrbodal, Halland, Skaraborg, Storgöteborg, and Älvsborg, which together are divided into 16 local police areas. There are also four regional units: the operations unit, intelligence unit, investigation unit, and border police unit, a regional office, HR and Communications, as well as national departments represented in the region to support police operations. Operations Unit The Operations Unit's mission is to actively support local police areas, police districts, and units in their core mission. We do this by developing and providing specialist capabilities that increase operational effectiveness in addressing the region's challenges. With specialized expertise, high service standards, and good collaboration, the Operations Unit is an important part of the operational and crime-fighting work in West Region. Traffic Section The main mission of the Traffic Section in West Region is oversight of commercial traffic and traffic surveillance on the national road network, as well as maritime police operations. The section consists of maritime police, traffic surveillance, investigation, and support and service. Our investigation teams are tasked with investigating and preventing traffic accidents and traffic offenses related to heavy and commercial traffic. The Maritime Police's primary mission is to ensure the Police Authority's needs in the maritime environment. Maritime environment is defined as: coastlines, islands, and water areas above and below the water surface. Police Region West also has national responsibility for maritime police operations in Sweden together with the Stockholm Maritime Police. We are located at Tångudden Harbor, Västra Frölunda. Our fleet consists of a variety of vessels, from jet skis to larger ships. The personnel currently consists of two maritime police teams. We are now seeking a handler with maritime capabilities for our maritime police teams. Job Duties The overall job duties will include general service and maintenance of all maritime police vessels as well as troubleshooting and repair of onboard equipment. The duties vary from day to day with a focus on minimizing vessel downtime. The duties also include, in consultation with the immediate supervisor, maintaining good documentation of service and maintenance, and maintaining contact with the shipyards and workshops that the Police Authority has contracted with. The assignment also involves performing service, troubleshooting, and repairs of our fleet. Travel may occasionally be part of the assignment. The responsibility also includes – together with the immediate supervisor – maintaining good organization of what needs to be maintained over time through a long-term plan. You will also be responsible as an assistant maritime safety officer. Qualifications This is an opportunity for you if you have: Documented marine technical education at upper secondary school level or higher Class B driver's license Strong ability to express yourself well in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing Documented experience with ship work at a shipyard or equivalent It is a merit if you also have: Driver's license with BE and C1 category Documented nautical education Documented experience working with water jet engines Documented experience with service and maintenance work on Scania and/or Mercury engines Documented training in electrical work onboard vessels Personal Qualities To thrive in this role, it is important that you have good social skills and enjoy situations where you can help and support others.
