We are currently seeking an experienced and engaged speech-language pathologist who wants to be part of our student support team and contribute to supporting our students' language and communication development. You work closely with the school district's special education specialists and, of course, with our classroom teachers. The position is located at the Kannebäck Resource School.
Duties
Together with your colleagues, you will identify what support students need. You will collaborate with dedicated teachers and student assistants to support students in their academic development during the school day and in leisure activities. You will also work directly with students (individually or in groups) by assessing, planning, and implementing interventions that strengthen abilities in these areas.
As a school speech-language pathologist, you are part of the schools' student support services. Student support primarily works to promote health and prevent problems. Developing and conducting staff training is a recurring part of the school speech-language pathologist's role. The work is varied and you have great opportunities to influence work methods and organization. Within the school district, there are three speech-language pathologists; you would be the fourth.
Qualifications
You are a licensed speech-language pathologist with several years of experience working with identifying and supporting students with language and communication difficulties.
It is meritorious if you have:
experience working as a school speech-language pathologist.
good knowledge of the target group of children/youth with Intellectual Disability and/or Neurodevelopmental Disorders.
experience with various forms of Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) such as Sign as Alternative and Augmentative Communication (SAAC), picture-supported communication for cognitive purposes, as well as high-tech and low-tech visual communication.
pedagogical experience.
good knowledge of current research regarding speech, language, and communication difficulties as well as reading and writing difficulties.
You have a good ability to work together with other professionals. By being interested and creating understanding for others, you promote a respectful work environment. You understand the shared mission, act based on it, and contribute to the whole. You adapt easily to changing circumstances and new information. You have the ability to work independently based on what the situation requires and the ability to make decisions within the scope of your role.
