About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now seeking more staff members. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the cycle of crime. When we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation services, remand centers, and prisoner transport.
Learning Center is a national organization where the Adult Education section provides education for clients of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. At each prison in the country and at certain remand centers, there are one or more learning centers where teachers provide instruction at basic and upper secondary levels, equivalent to municipal adult education, as well as Swedish language education for immigrants. Adult education is nationally coordinated and organized so that studies function regardless of which facility a client is assigned to and even if they are transferred during their studies.
Job Description
Clients who need education can apply or be directed to apply for adult education. Teaching is individualized and takes place at the Learning Center. As a teacher in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, you work in three capacities. You teach your students at the Nyköping facility in the learning center's premises and you will also support students in the role of educational advisor for those whose subject teacher is remote within the authority. In addition, you also teach distance students who are studying at other facilities, though all work takes place on-site at the facility. This means that in your role you have continuous contact with and collaborate with teachers and other colleagues throughout the country.
Qualifications
In your role as a teacher, you are a skilled educator with the will and ability to motivate, inspire, and guide students to achieve their goals. You are clear and engaged in your work and have a good ability to create structure and systematicity. Work is conducted both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues, which is why good collaboration and initiative skills are important qualities, as well as the ability to work independently.

We are seeking someone who has:
- Upper secondary school teacher's degree and teaching certification with subject competence in one or more of the following subjects: Business Economics, Natural Science, Mathematics, preferably in combination with Chemistry/Physics.
- Experience working in educational activities in upper secondary school and/or adult education
- Ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish
- Good computer skills and experience working with digital support systems
It is also meritorious to have:
- Experience teaching in adult education/Komvux
- Experience with distance teaching
