Description Hvitfeldtska Gymnasium in Gothenburg is one of the first IB Diploma schools in Sweden and has offered the program to students from around the world since 1989. Responsibilities As a substitute teacher of Swedish and Italian with us, you will step into an international and academically stimulating environment. The position is based in the IB Program (International Baccalaureate), where you will become part of an engaged and collegial team. In your role, you plan, conduct, and evaluate instruction in Italian and Swedish, primarily the courses Swedish A and Swedish Level 1. Beyond teaching, an important responsibility includes serving as a mentor for a class, which means you support and guide students in their studies and development. The position may also include providing homework and study help to give students additional support in their learning. The position is a temporary substitute position during the autumn term 2026, with start date as soon as possible and lasting through December 31, 2026, with possible opportunity for extension. Qualifications We are looking for a confident and pedagogical teacher who is comfortable in an international upper secondary school environment. You have a teacher certification with upper secondary level qualifications in the relevant subjects. Since daily work and communication within the IB program is conducted largely in English, it is a requirement that you have very good knowledge of the English language. It is highly meritorious if you have previous experience teaching within the IB program and are familiar with courses such as Swedish A. As a person, you build relationships easily with young people, have good collaboration skills, and the flexibility to quickly adapt to new routines and student groups. The position is primarily intended as a combination position in both Swedish and Italian, but it may also be relevant to divide the teaching into two separate part-time positions (Swedish A only or Italian only).
