Your Work Tasks In an adapted school, you meet students with intellectual disabilities, where each individual has unique strengths, circumstances, and support needs. As a teacher with us, you work closely with students in their development, learning, and daily lives. You work with planning, implementation, and evaluation of instruction based on the curriculum, where values-based work is also a natural part. You see the student's entire school day as an important whole and collaborate closely with colleagues, student assistants, and guardians. The role also includes close collaboration between school and after-school programs to create the best possible conditions for each student's development and goal achievement. Instruction is based on the student group you meet and is characterized by clear structure and a flexible approach. Using alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) such as visual supports and sign language support, along with digital tools, is a natural part of your teaching. At the same time, you create a predictable environment where students can feel safe, develop, and be challenged at their own pace. The adapted school also includes care-related tasks such as diaper changes, dressing, and assisting during meals. Common work tasks: Plan, adapt, and structure instruction to create the best possible conditions for each student's learning Lead and distribute work in the classroom, and guide and mentor student assistants in daily work Ensure that instruction maintains a clear direction toward established goals and that all team members work toward the same objectives Be responsible for instruction in subject areas and design content that stimulates student development Continuously adapt instructional situations, for example by organizing groups or activities to meet students' different needs Clarify instructions and expectations for students and support them in their knowledge development and independence By building secure relationships, you contribute to students developing their abilities and making progress in both learning and daily life. This position is a temporary assignment from August 10, 2026 to June 18, 2027. Your Workplace Ullevis School adapted primary school is located in the Skäggetorp district in Linköping and shares facilities with Ullevis School's primary school. The school started in March 2021 and currently has approximately 60 students enrolled, from Flex through Grade 6, with approximately 6-8 students in each class. The facilities are fresh and adapted to our operations; for example, we have adapted home economics classrooms. We are close to nature and also have an e-bike that enables outings with students in the local area. The school is characterized by a generous and welcoming climate where collaboration is central. At Ullevis School, there is a craft teacher responsible for instruction in the primary school. This position involves close collaboration where you share the craft room and workspace. You work continuously with the school's teachers and student assistants to create a safe and developing learning environment for students. About You First and foremost, we are looking for someone with teacher certification with the authority to teach Grades 1-6 in crafts. Secondly, we are looking for someone with completed teacher education for Grades 1-6. Alternatively, you are near the end of your education to become a teacher for Grades 1-6. It is meritorious if you have special education training or specialist teacher education with specialization in intellectual disabilities. You have previous experience with pedagogical work with students in need of special support; it is meritorious if you have worked in an adapted school. Furthermore, it is meritorious if you have experience with visual supports. In your role as a teacher, you have good knowledge of the school's mission and are well familiar with the curriculum (Lgra22) and other policy documents. It is a requirement that you have good communicative ability in spoken and written Swedish. This is so that, according to the curriculum for adapted schools, you can organize and carry out work so that the student receives support in their language and communication development. As a teacher, you are a good role model and have clear pedagogical leadership in the classroom. You lead, engage, and motivate others in the team so that together you can reach the goals for student development. You actively build relationships with students, colleagues, and others you meet by recognizing each individual's needs and abilities. Furthermore, you have the ability to adapt your instruction to students and act calmly and confidently in challenging situations. You have the ability to focus on what is right even when circumstances change. You collaborate well with colleagues, guardians, and other contacts in society that appear in your professional role.
