About the School Hakkas School is located in the village of Hakkas and is a spacious F–9 school in the countryside of Gällivare Municipality. The school includes a preschool class, after-school care, and primary education with approximately 70 students from Hakkas and surrounding villages. The school is close to a swimming facility, forest, and nature, which are used as a natural part of teaching and students' daily lives. At Hakkas School, community is one of our greatest strengths. Through international collaborations, both students and staff have the opportunity to participate in development projects and exchanges with schools throughout Europe. The work aims, among other things, to strengthen students' language motivation, develop teaching, and provide new perspectives on learning and their local region. Job Responsibilities As an English teacher for years 7–9, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on instruction based on the curriculum and course syllabus. You actively work to create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment where students are given good conditions to develop their knowledge and language skills. You monitor students' knowledge development, document and assess their learning, and collaborate with guardians and colleagues regarding students' development. Mentoring may be included in the position. The position comprises 50% teaching English for years 7–9. Depending on your qualifications, there is an opportunity to combine the position with other subjects up to 100%. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has teacher certification with qualifications to teach English for years 7–9. If you have qualifications in additional subjects, we consider that a merit, as the position can be combined according to the school's needs. Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is a merit. You are a clear and engaged leader with an inclusive and attentive approach. You have the ability to create good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues, and you work independently, systematically, and with responsibility. We value collaboration, collegial learning, and a willingness to develop teaching together with others. Great importance is placed on personal suitability. Employment requires submission of a police clearance certificate.
