What We Offer You The Adapted Elementary School in Söderköping operates in two different locations: Björkängen, which is located very close to Björkhagaskolan elementary school, for grades F-6, and Nyströmska School for grades 7-9. Students study subjects or subject areas. Craft instruction takes place in a well-equipped craft workshop at Björkhagaskolan. In our work with students, we strive to make them as independent as possible based on their abilities by providing them with knowledge, training them in social collaboration, communication, and strengthening their self-esteem. It is important for us to strengthen students' everyday skills so that they can later live an independent and rich social life. Within the Adapted Elementary School in Söderköping, we currently have 22 students at Björkängen grades F-6 and at Adapted Nyströmska grades 7-9 there are 19 students studying subjects or subject areas. You will be part of the team for Adapted Nyströmska grades 7-9 The school has several experienced colleagues in adapted education, as well as a development teacher for adapted school from preschool class through adult education. The school has an engaged student welfare team consisting of principals, special educators/special education specialists, study and career counselors, a counselor, and a school nurse. Job Description We are now seeking a teacher of crafts and aesthetic subject areas at Björkängen and a teacher of crafts and art for Adapted Nyströmska grades 7-9, divided into different groups. The teaching assignment is approximately 70%. The remaining time you will, in addition to planning time and conference time, provide support at Adapted Nyströmska grades 7-9. In your teaching role, you work systematically to plan, implement, and evaluate your instruction. You continuously assess your students' acquired knowledge and use this as the basis for your continued work. You collaborate easily but can also work independently. You build good relationships with students and guardians and you have high expectations that students will succeed. You are part of the team at Adapted Nyströmska grades 7-9 where you participate in collaborative learning and at staff meetings, etc. You are also part of the municipality's network for PREST teachers (teachers of practical and aesthetic subjects) where you have the opportunity to exchange experiences and get tips and inspiration from subject colleagues. Qualifications We are seeking someone who is a certified teacher in crafts and art, or alternatively a preschool teacher with atelier specialist training, or equivalent. You have a genuine interest in this student group and want to give them the best conditions for learning and development. You stand up for the target group's right and opportunity to live an active life without limitations. You are clear in your communication and ensure that your message gets across. You are responsive to students' different needs and abilities and you adapt your instruction so that everyone can participate according to their ability. We would like to see that you have previous experience working with children and young people with intellectual disabilities. Experience working in adapted elementary school is a merit.
