Kalmarsunds gymnasieförbund is a municipal association responsible for developing and providing upper secondary education and adult education to the member municipalities of Borgholm, Kalmar, Mönsterås, Mörbylånga, and Torsås. We have approximately 4,000 students and 600 employees distributed across our five schools.
Stagneliusskolan is one of the upper secondary schools in Kalmarsunds gymnasieförbund and offers a variety of educational programs. Stagneliusskolan also has a unit for students with neuropsychiatric disabilities within the autism spectrum. The AST unit offers both national programs and an introductory program. The unit has existed since 2008 and has grown from approximately 10 to 100 students.
The school is located in the Storken district where the facilities have been adapted to meet the target group's needs. This includes small classes of approximately 5 to 10 students where each student has their own fixed workspace. The school has its own cafeteria and a movement room. The school day is structured from 9-14 every day to create predictability and safety.
The team is present between approximately 8-16 to enable close collaboration on students' academic and social development. Teachers are trained in autism pedagogy and low-arousal approaches, and work to challenge students in a safe environment for optimal development. Teachers and social pedagogues follow students throughout the school day. They lead recess activities and eat pedagogical lunches with the students.
The AST unit is a member of Reacta, a national organization focused on health-promoting work. This includes the school offering various activities after school hours to provide students with opportunities for stimulating leisure time.
