At the Rural Development Division, we work to ensure that the County Administrative Board achieves the goals set by the government for the EU's Common Agricultural Policy. We actively contribute to robust and attractive rural areas through good wildlife management and animal care, increased sustainable food production, and more competitive businesses. County Veterinarians are placed in the Veterinary and Animal Welfare unit together with animal welfare officers who monitor and ensure good animal welfare throughout the county. Job Description As one of two county veterinarians, you will together be responsible for veterinary matters for the entire county. The tasks are varied and diverse in nature. A significant portion of the work consists of administrative duties. Supervision, inspection, and case handling involve planning, implementation, follow-up, and reporting. Environmental monitoring, information, and collaboration is another part of the work that involves many contacts with other authorities, organizations, businesses, veterinarians, and the public. We offer interesting and varied work where tasks are sometimes event-driven. The duties include, for example: Supervision of animal health personnel Inspection of hygiene in veterinary facilities, farms, and animal-related visitor operations Inspection of medications on farms Inspection of animal by-products (ABP) Inspection of animal breeding facilities Inspection of horse passports Regional disease control responsibility Preparedness for contagious animal diseases and diseases that can spread from animals to humans Monitoring of disease control programs for animal diseases Providing support in animal welfare cases handled by the unit Handling animal prohibition cases Food in primary production and coordination of municipal food control Veterinary organization during elevated readiness Answering questions on veterinary matters both internally and externally The employment may also include other work areas within the unit. The work involves some travel to facilities for inspections, and the work may also involve contact with vulnerable people in connection with handling animal prohibition cases. Qualifications We are looking for someone who holds a Swedish veterinary license. Professional experience within any veterinary field is a merit. You should also have knowledge of Swedish legislation within the veterinary field. You also have basic IT/Office skills and good knowledge of the Swedish language, both orally and in writing. We place great importance on personal suitability and that your personality fits well with the work group. As a person, you need to be attentive, have good communication skills, and be able to express yourself well both verbally and in writing. The work requires good collaboration skills in both internal and external relationships, and you must be flexible and have an unpretentious approach. You have good ability to take initiative, be proactive, and efficiently and independently carry out your work according to established schedules. You have the ability to prioritize even in time-pressured work situations and when circumstances change. You work in a structured and legally secure manner and feel comfortable enforcing the requirements that are sometimes necessary within the work, particularly in connection with inspection visits. It is important that you work according to our vision and the state's values. A driver's license for a personal car is required as work-related travel occurs. Employment The position is a permanent employment that begins with a six-month probationary period. At the County Administrative Board, certain positions are classified in the security category. This may mean that a security clearance and background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) are conducted before employment.
