Department of Surgery, Höglandssjukhuset Eksjö The Department of Surgery in Region Jönköping County is seeking a Medical Director to lead the physician group in Eksjö at Höglandssjukhuset and contribute to the continued development of surgical services in the region from both a local and regional perspective. If you are interested in combining clinical work with leadership responsibilities, you can achieve this as a Medical Director in a single position. As Medical Director in Eksjö, you report directly to the Operations Manager of the Department of Surgery and are one of three Medical Directors—one for each location: Jönköping, Eksjö, and Värnamo. The Medical Directors are part of the clinic's management team and participate in local leadership at their respective locations. The Role of Medical Director In close collaboration with the Deputy Operations Manager in Eksjö, you lead the local operations. Together with the Operations Manager and the clinic's management team, you ensure that local development maintains a regional perspective and that the three locations are led in the same direction. The position combines clinical work and leadership, and as a starting point, it is reasonable that half your time is devoted to leadership and half to clinical work, though other arrangements can be discussed. In your role, you have medical leadership responsibility and shared responsibility for incident management at the clinic in Eksjö. You initiate and lead improvement projects that contribute to service development and ensure patients receive even better care. In your management position, you currently oversee 22 physicians at various levels, developing their competence and potential. As Medical Director, you also have responsibility for the work environment, ensuring a safe and positive workplace for physicians through engaged leadership. You share budget responsibility with the management team and have the ability to drive a cost- and resource-efficient operation. Your Future Workplace The Department of Surgery in Region Jönköping County is a region-wide clinic with operations at three locations: Höglandssjukhuset in Eksjö, Länssjukhuset Ryhov in Jönköping, and Värnamo Sjukhus. The clinic is responsible for providing acute surgical care around the clock at all three hospitals. In Eksjö, elective operations focus on upper and lower gastrointestinal surgery and endocrine surgery. Vascular and thoracic surgery are centralized for the entire region to Jönköping. The surgical unit at Höglandssjukhuset in Eksjö is newly built and has a very high standard of facilities and equipment. Your Profile • Licensed physician with a specialty in surgery • Previous experience in leadership with personnel responsibility and operations development is a merit • B-class driving license As a person, you are solution-oriented and interested in driving operational development so that patient care evolves further and produces good results. We collaborate closely within the clinic and with other operations, so you need strong communication skills. Your leadership is characterized by openness and dialogue, which creates good conditions for a positive work environment. You demonstrate good judgment, are clear, and make decisions with ease.
