Department of Surgery, Höglandssjukhuset Eksjö The Department of Surgery in Region Jönköping County is seeking a Chief Physician who wants to lead the physician group in Eksjö at Höglandssjukhuset and contribute to the continued development of surgical operations in the region from both a local and regional perspective. If you are interested in combining clinical work and leadership responsibilities, as a Chief Physician you can achieve this in a single position. As Chief Physician in Eksjö, you report directly to the Operations Manager of the Department of Surgery and are one of three Chief Physicians, one for each location: Jönköping, Eksjö, and Värnamo. The Chief Physicians are part of the clinic's management team and participate in local leadership at their respective locations. The Role of Chief Physician In close collaboration with the Assistant Operations Manager in Eksjö, you will lead the local operations. Together with the Operations Manager and the clinic's management team, you will ensure that local development has a regional perspective and that the three locations are led in the same direction. The position combines clinical work and leadership, and as a starting point, it is reasonable that approximately half your time is devoted to leadership work and half to clinical work, though other arrangements can be discussed. In your role, you hold medical leadership responsibility and shared responsibility for the clinic's incident management in Eksjö. You initiate and lead improvement initiatives that contribute to the development of operations and better patient care. In your management role, you are currently responsible for 22 physicians at various levels, developing their competence and potential. As Chief Physician, you also have responsibility for the work environment, ensuring a safe and positive work environment for physicians through present leadership. You share budget responsibility with the management team and have the ability to drive a cost- and resource-efficient operation. Your Future Workplace The Department of Surgery in Region Jönköping County is a region-wide clinic with operations at three locations: Höglandssjukhuset in Eksjö, Länssjukhuset Ryhov in Jönköping, and Värnamo Sjukhus. The clinic is responsible for providing emergency surgical care around the clock at all three hospitals. In Eksjö, elective operations focus on upper and lower gastrointestinal surgery and endocrine surgery. Vascular and breast surgery are centralized for the entire region to Jönköping. The operating unit at Höglandssjukhuset in Eksjö is newly built and features a very high standard of facilities and equipment. Your Profile • Licensed physician with a specialty in surgery • Previous experience in leadership with personnel responsibility and operations development is an advantage • B-class driver's license As a person, you are solution-oriented and interested in driving operations development so that patient care improves further and produces good results. We have close collaboration within the clinic as well as with other operations, so you need to have good communication skills. Your leadership is characterized by openness and dialogue, which creates good conditions for a positive work environment. You demonstrate good judgment, are clear, and make decisions with ease.
