Center for Medical Genomics (CMG) at Sahlgrenska University Hospital is seeking a laboratory technician for the Sample Handling and Pre-analytical section. With us, you will have an important role in the genetic diagnostics chain. By ensuring that samples are handled correctly, you contribute to the diagnosis of cancer, hereditary diseases, and rare diagnoses. About Us CMG is part of the Clinical Genetics and Genomics operational area at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. We are responsible for genetic laboratory analyses across several medical specialties and contribute to the development of precision medicine in the Västra Götaland Region. Our laboratories are organized into sections including Sample Handling and Pre-analytical, Cytogenetics, Quantitative PCR, Sanger/Fragment Analysis, and NGS (Next Generation Sequencing). We work with several professional groups together in interdisciplinary teams focused on quality, development, and patient benefit. Job Responsibilities As a laboratory technician in the Sample Handling and Pre-analytical section, you will: Receive, verify, and register samples and requisitions in the laboratory's information system (LIS) Label, scan, and manage sample materials and requisitions Manage biobanking and send samples to external laboratories Distribute laboratory results Participate in the department's quality assurance work Job responsibilities may also include sample collection, basic laboratory work, sample transport, registry maintenance, billing management, and other administrative tasks. The section is continuously developing with new digital solutions and ways of working. The position may therefore change over time based on operational needs and offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of future laboratory support within Clinical Genetics and Genomics. Qualifications We are seeking someone who: Has completed upper secondary education Is trained as a nursing assistant, laboratory technician, or has other education or experience that the employer considers equivalent Has very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, equivalent to at least level C1 Meritorious Experience working in healthcare or laboratory operations Experience with administrative work and data entry in digital systems Experience with sample handling or laboratory work Experience working in quality-assured or accredited operations About You You are careful, organized, and responsible with a service-oriented approach. You enjoy collaboration, are flexible, and adapt easily to changing work methods. You contribute to a good working environment and want to help develop the operations.
