Gothenburg, Linköping, and Lund are part of the Southern Region while Stockholm and Umeå are part of the Northern Region. The head office with all support functions is located in Stockholm. We are looking for An experienced skilled lawyer with broad expertise who wants to work close to operations and provide qualified legal support on matters important to the agency's mission and development. With us, you will have a central role where you guide managers and investigators in complex and principal matters that contribute to well-founded decisions. The Workplace The position is located in Stockholm and belongs to the region's staff. Work is conducted in close cooperation with other regional counsel but also with other lawyers, unit managers, and investigators at the School Inspectorate. You report to the Deputy Regional Director but also work closely with the Regional Director with responsibility for preparing principal cases and sanction cases for decision-making. Within the Northern Region, there are nine units with a total of approximately 150 employees, of which approximately 100 are in Stockholm. The region shares premises with the head office and is centrally located in Stockholm. We have an activity-based office, and the possibility of entering into an agreement for remote work exists. Job Responsibilities An important part of the assignment is to translate legal knowledge into practical support for regional management, unit managers, and investigators. You follow developments in the legal field, inform about new legislation and case law, and contribute to raising legal expertise within the region. You thus become a key person for both legal application and knowledge development within the agency. As a regional counsel in the Northern Region, you work in a support function primarily with handling matters within the school law field but also other legislation within the administrative law field. You will have the opportunity to influence legal application within the agency. By supporting the organization in principal and guiding matters, you contribute to legally secure decisions, develop the agency's practice, and ensure uniform application of regulations. The role gives you a unique opportunity to combine qualified legal work with a concrete contribution to the School Inspectorate's important public mission. Qualifications You must have: • Law degree and notary qualification or equivalent • Several years of current experience in qualified legal work in a consultative role, for example at a government agency's legal department, court, law firm, or similar It is meritorious with: • Current experience of and knowledge in school law • Experience in supervisory activities • Experience working in a court of appeal To succeed in the role, you need to be independent, confident in your professional role, and have good self-awareness. You have the ability to quickly identify and analyze the legal core issue and good ability to make relevant limitations and prioritizations. You are pragmatic, solution-oriented, and operations-focused, and confident in your own assessments and have trust in others' professional responsibility and expertise. You have an excellent ability to express yourself clearly, accessibly, and correctly in both speech and writing. You can communicate legal positions to others in a pedagogical manner. Great weight is placed on personal qualities. About the Positions The positions are permanent. The School Inspectorate applies a 6-month probationary period. The scope is full-time.
