School Counselor for School Area 4 in the City Center

Description We are now seeking a full-time (100%) school counselor with a start date of fall semester 2026. The position is within school area 4 in the city center, primarily at Kärralundsskolan F-9 and Parkskolan F-6. The school area also includes Kärralundsskolan 1-9 Adapted Elementary School, but work there will be as needed. Most of your weekly work time will be based at Kärralundsskolan F-9. There are reception rooms at both schools. You will actively participate in the schools' student welfare teams alongside other professionals in student welfare, and you will be responsible for the schools' plans against discrimination and harassment. Beyond that, typical counselor duties include student counseling sessions and health promotion and prevention work in classrooms. Job Responsibilities As a school counselor, you are part of the school's student welfare team and contribute psychosocial expertise at the organizational, group, and individual levels. In student welfare, you collaborate with the school nurse, special education teacher, psychologist, school doctor, and principal. The team's task is to work together with the principal and teaching staff on health promotion and prevention to strengthen children and young people's ability to achieve their goals. Your responsibilities include participating in the school's ongoing values and safety work, support conversations, collaborating with and supporting guardians, consulting with staff, and delivering group/classroom interventions. You will also conduct school social assessments and evaluations in preparation for admission to adapted elementary school, as well as investigations of student absences. Additionally, you collaborate with external partners such as social services, rehabilitation services, UPH, and BUP (Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services). Qualifications We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or equivalent higher education that the employer deems relevant. We consider it a merit if you have experience working as a school counselor and experience working with children and young people. We also appreciate experience with documentation in PMO. Additional merits include: - Experience working within social services - Knowledge of the Social Services Act and the Education Act - Training in conversation methodology As a person, you are stable, empathetic, unpretentious, and confident in your professional role. You have strong commitment to children and young people's psychosocial well-being and the ability to meet people in different life situations. You enable children's storytelling and help ensure that students' participation and perspectives are highlighted. You build relationships easily and are professional and respectful in your interactions with students, guardians, and colleagues. You need to have an interest in working in a pedagogical environment and in teams with various professionals. In your work, you are organized and clear, with the ability to take initiative and make decisions within your mandate. You also prioritize your efforts together with the principal and the rest of student welfare. You are comfortable working with complex issues, see possibilities, and are creative.
