The Culture and Recreation Administration is seeking a culture secretary who combines specialist expertise in art with a broad commitment to cultural development. With us, you'll have a varied role where you both manage the municipality's art collection and create new opportunities for cultural life through close collaboration with associations, organizations, and other actors.
The role is both strategic and operational. You lead projects, contribute expert knowledge, and drive processes from idea to completion.
Duties
Your responsibilities include:
managing the municipality's art collection through inventory, documentation, communication, care, placement, acquisition, and loans to municipal operations,
responsibility for and further development of the municipality's exhibition activities
project management of artistic design assignments in new construction, renovations, and extensions in accordance with Falun Municipality's one percent rule
providing qualified support and advice on public art
monitoring developments in art and culture
initiate, coordinate, and drive cultural development projects
stimulate local cultural life through close collaboration with cultural associations, study associations, and other cultural actors
handle and distribute grants to associations and organizations according to current guidelines
contribute to the development of cultural and creative industries in collaboration with other parts of the municipality
participate in relevant networks and working groups and, when appropriate, seek external project funding.
The role is broad and varied, requiring you to be comfortable switching between specialist tasks, project management, development work, qualified case handling, and practical work related to cultural activities.
Qualifications
We're looking for you to have:
relevant higher education or university training in, for example, art history, cultural administration, cultural heritage management, fine art, or equivalent
good knowledge of contemporary art and the ability to combine historical and contemporary art perspectives
experience with qualified work on exhibitions and management and care of public art and art collections
experience with independent administrative case handling and driving projects and development work across a range of different cultural areas
very good ability to express yourself clearly in Swedish, both orally and in writing
Personal Qualities
We're looking for you to be comfortable with an independent role where you're responsible for driving matters from idea to implementation. You're organized and have a good ability to plan, prioritize, and create order in a role with many parallel processes.
You communicate clearly and adapt your message to your audience and situation. Through a listening and professional approach, you contribute to good collaboration with colleagues and external actors, where different perspectives and expertise are valued.
You take initiative and drive work forward by identifying opportunities and translating ideas into action. At the same time, you have good judgment and the ability to make well-considered prioritizations based on the operation's goals, quality, and available resources.
To succeed in this role, you need to combine clear specialist expertise in art with an interest in working broadly with cultural development. You contribute your specialist expertise while maintaining a holistic perspective and working toward the long-term development of the operation.
Meritorious Qualifications
It's an advantage if you have:
experience leading or coordinating projects in public design, preferably according to the one percent rule
experience with budget work
experience with exhibition production or gallery operations
experience with grant administration
experience working in a politically governed organization
experience with procurement or purchasing (LOU) in public operations
good knowledge of Dalarna's cultural life and cultural heritage
experience collaborating with associations, study associations, cultural organizations, or cultural and creative industries

Permanent position. Full-time.
