We work with everything from cultural school, libraries, and museums to events, art halls, and support for community organizations. We are also responsible for cultural heritage environments as well as the municipality's swimming, sports, and outdoor activities. The Culture Unit works with: • Production and coordination of open program activities and stage technology • Communication for concerts, dance and theater performances, trade fairs, festivals, discussions, and exhibitions • Sandviken Art Hall, public art, and art education • Production and coordination of Kulturlöftet (all students, ages 4-16, in the municipality are offered professional cultural experiences and opportunities for cultural practice during school and preschool time each school year) • Production and coordination of Wellbeing 2026-2028 – strategic coordination of cultural and leisure offerings for seniors and people with disabilities • Rental of spaces at Kulturcentrum and about ten additional properties that serve as venues for civil society organizations in the municipality • Support for adult education and community organizations, museums, and cultural heritage environments, scholarships, and awards The Culture Unit works closely with other public actors, the independent cultural sector, and civil society organizations both within and outside Sandviken. The unit has a coordinating role within the cultural center Kulturcentrum, where premises, offerings, and communication are coordinated with the Public Library, Literature House Trampolin, the Cultural School, and Folkets Hus. The unit is regularly complemented by art and culture guides, stage and exhibition technicians, and other contractors. 1 position(s). JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Sandviken Art Hall consists of approximately 250 square meters of exhibition space and is located in the heart of the cultural center Kulturcentrum. Exhibition activities are an integrated part of Kulturcentrum's program activities and currently feature solo and group exhibitions with contemporary art, exhibitions for children and youth through broad collaborations based on picture books, the annual Sandvik Salon, and exhibitions as part of the annual Sandviken Form & Design initiative where Young Swedish Form returns in 2027. Exhibition-related program activities are organized including openings, public discussions, tours, workshops, performances, and lectures. The Culture Coordinator with focus on art is tasked with coordinating both the exhibition activities at Sandviken Art Hall and the municipality's work with public art. The role includes: • developing Sandviken Art Hall's program activities with both breadth and excellence • supervising and supporting visiting curators, artists, and exhibition technicians and ensuring good logistics and realistic timelines within budget • monitoring the external environment and presenting content proposals, and convening a program group for art activities • planning and implementing exhibitions and art projects from start to finish • coordinating exhibitions and projects with colleagues within the unit, other activities within Kulturcentrum, and with external partners • documenting, writing up projects, and applying for external funding • coordinating information for communication of the art hall's offerings • working with loans of works from the municipality's art collection and rehang collections of art in workplaces and semi-public environments • working for good stewardship and broadened audiences in close collaboration with art guides and the Culture Coordinator with focus on audience development QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone who has • a master's degree in fine art from an artistic university or an academic degree in art history, exhibition production, museology, or something deemed equivalent by the employer • at least five years of work experience in exhibition production in various types of exhibition spaces and activities • work experience from different types of organizations • interest in working with a strong sense of artistic quality and integrity as well as public interest and with content characterized by both breadth and excellence • broad national networks within contemporary art • excellent planning ability and competence in logistics, administration, and digital tools • experience working in various digital systems Desirable qualifications also include • work experience in public art • experience in cultural production and managing cultural projects within different art forms • experience in politically governed organizations As a person, you are • structured and flexible • a quick learner and efficient • unpretentious with high work ethic • social and cooperative • proactive and independent • solution-focused and creative Work Samples In connection with any interview, you will need to be able to present work samples from previous exhibition planning. The work samples must not have been created with the help of AI. Employment form: Fixed-term employment. Duration: 6 months or longer, start date: 2026-10-01 or by agreement, end date: 2029-08-31.
