The Assignment
Do you want to lead and develop the Culture Department and contribute to Norrtälje Municipality's continued development? Do you believe in the power of culture to create meaning, strengthen democracy and make a place attractive to live, work and visit? Then the position as department manager for the Culture Department could be right for you.
As department manager, you have a strategic overall responsibility for the municipality's cultural activities. You lead and develop the operations based on political goals, residents' needs and the municipality's ambitions for sustainable growth and attractiveness.
You lead a department with approximately 45 employees, including three unit managers and a specialist. You are the link between political direction and operations within libraries, museums, art galleries and cultural venues. You are also responsible for collaboration with associations, civil society and other actors.

You lead the development of an accessible and relevant cultural life for all residents. The assignment involves driving strategic development, strengthening collaboration and developing digital working methods, service and accessibility.

What you need to bring
You are a confident and strategic leader who sees the importance of culture for context, identity and societal development. You combine a clear quality focus with courage and the ability to develop operations.
We are looking for you who have:
higher education in the cultural field or other relevant education
several years of experience in strategic leadership, preferably in the public sector and with experience leading managers
experience in change management and digital development
good communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build trust with politicians, employees and external partners
good knowledge of public administration, legislation, democratic processes and governance documents.
It is meritorious if you have experience in grant administration within the cultural field, knowledge of labor law, work environment and collaboration with trade unions.
As a person you are results-oriented and have the ability to translate goals and strategies into concrete results. You are relationship-oriented and collaboration-oriented, with the ability to build trust and create good collaborations both within the organization and with external actors.

For this role, the starting salary is normally between 60,000 - 70,000 SEK depending on experience and qualifications.
For permanent employment, a trial period may be applied.
