Culture and Recreation Director

About the Position As our current culture and recreation director David transitions to the role of social services director this fall, we are now seeking his successor. The culture and recreation operations area includes the units for sports and associations, cultural school, youth recreation, library, and the cultural unit, whose directors report to the operations area director. As operations area director, you report to the municipal director and are part of the municipal leadership. The role requires a good understanding of the interplay between the political organization and the administrative organization, and the ability to create trusting relationships and maintain good dialogue with both political leadership, associations, residents, and the rest of the administrative organization. In this role, you have the following responsibilities: Lead, develop, and monitor work so that culture and recreation activities continue to be conducted efficiently, cost-effectively, and with good service and respectful treatment Actively contribute to the development of the municipality's operations through, among other things, the municipal director's and the operations area's management group Lead, motivate, and develop managers and employees toward goal achievement and help make the municipality an attractive employer Work actively with culture and association life and take responsibility for monitoring the external environment within the culture and recreation operations area Who Are You? We are looking for someone with substantial leadership experience. Your communication skills—with both politicians and culture and association life, residents, and your own organization—are a decisive factor for success in this role. You are coaching-oriented, strategic, externally focused, and development-driven. The ability to collaborate both within and outside the organization is a major part of the assignment.
