Job Description
Do you want to contribute to a safer and more secure society? As a correctional officer in a prison facility, you are fundamental to security operations. You work in teams with other professions to maintain a safe and secure operation and to motivate clients toward a life without crime. Daily work includes unlocking and locking residential units, facility inspections and monitoring, as well as client conversations and release preparation, among other tasks. The role of correctional officer involves a structured and routine-based approach with risk assessment and security awareness at the forefront. The work is varied and offers many development opportunities for those seeking continued employment. It is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's core values of a humane view of people, respect for the individual, and belief in people's capacity for development and change.
The probationary period begins with a three-week introduction at Hällby Prison. After a few months of service, we will schedule your start for the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's mandatory basic training. The training covers eight weeks and takes place during paid work time. Assessment occurs continuously before the probationary period transitions to permanent employment after six months.
Qualifications
Your personal qualities are important. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you run the operation, so you need to have good collaboration skills and be clear in your communication. You must be able to act physically when required.

We are seeking candidates who have:
Completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant
Work experience, including seasonal work, temporary employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not equivalent to employment
Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing
Good computer skills
It is also a merit to have:
Work experience from corrections, security work, or psychiatry
Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management
Relevant language skills
B-class driving license
