We are seeking a costume technician for the Technical and Production Department. The department's main responsibility is to provide technical production support and planning for student productions in acting, film, performance art, dance, dance pedagogy, circus and opera. We are a team of 21 people with very broad expertise in various areas such as stage technology, sound and lighting technology, post-production, video and exhibition technology, software, costume, circus rigging and everything else involved in the technical execution of artistic forms.
Job Responsibilities
Together with your colleagues in the department, you will be responsible for costume and props work in student productions. The work includes planning and coordination of costumes and props throughout the production process, including sewing, pattern cutting, costume work, maintenance of costume and props storage, and garment care.
The role also includes supporting and mentoring students in costume and props work, as well as participating in teaching activities within the field. You will have many contact points, both internally with students and colleagues and externally with suppliers, other educational institutions and cultural institutions. Since SKH is an international educational institution, work takes place in a multilingual environment, which means you need to be able to communicate fluently in both Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.
Depending on your expertise and interests, the role may also include technical planning of courses in collaboration with teachers, as well as development of digital tools for costume and props design and construction. You are expected to independently plan, coordinate and manage work within your area of responsibility.
Qualifications
Good sewing skills
Many years of experience working with productions in theatre or film
Teaching experience as a teacher or instructor
Good experience coordinating, leading and independently managing projects
Several years of practical experience working with sewing and garment care
Experience working as a costumer
Knowledge of and experience with workflows related to stage and film production
Good ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing
Meritorious qualifications:
Technical theatre or artistic university education or equivalent expertise acquired through practical work in theatre, stage or university
Knowledge and experience in manufacturing and/or ordering props
Knowledge of pattern cutting
Experience working with digital tools for costume and props design and construction

Initiative is necessary as the institution's educational fields are constantly evolving, and new tasks develop alongside the programs. Therefore, it is of great importance that you are open and interested in developing new working methods and tools for artistic production. The work tasks largely stem from a learning and supportive role towards the operation and the artistic projects produced. We place great importance on your personal qualities.
About the Employment
The position is full-time and is a permanent employment. We apply a six-month probationary period. Start date no later than 2026-09-01 or by agreement.
