About the Job
As Head Chef, you have overall responsibility for meal operations in one of six geographic areas in Karlskrona Municipality. The assignment includes responsibility for meal production for preschools, schools, secondary schools, and elderly care.
The food department consists of 56 kitchens and approximately 200 skilled and dedicated employees. You lead operations with a focus on quality, development, sustainability, and good working conditions, and ensure that meals maintain high quality and contribute to the municipality's overall goals.
You are part of the food department's management team and work closely with five other head chefs. Together, you drive development and improvement work in a close, unpretentious, and collegial collaboration.
In your role as Head Chef, you are responsible for:
• Leading and developing operations based on political goals, assignments, and given financial frameworks
• Having personnel, work environment, and budget responsibility
• Ensuring quality, efficiency, and equitable meal services
• Driving improvement and development work with a focus on quality and sustainability
• Working systematically with monitoring, analysis, and continuous improvements
• Collaborating with other managers, operations, and partners
• Contributing actively to the food department's shared development through overarching areas of responsibility, such as emergency preparedness, procurement, menu planning, or training initiatives
About You
As a leader, you are confident, clear, and engaged, and have solid experience working in kitchens/large-scale kitchens. You feel comfortable in a management role and have the ability to lead both people and operations toward shared goals. You work structurally, are operationally engaged, and have an easy time building trust and good relationships. You see change as a natural part of development work and have the ability to drive improvements together with your employees. You are communicative, unpretentious, and actively contribute to a good collaboration climate and good working conditions.
Requirements
• Academic education in a relevant field, or other education/experience that the employer deems equivalent
• Experience in a managerial or leading position in kitchens/large-scale kitchens
• Experience with personnel, work environment, and budget responsibility
• Experience with quality and development work
• Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish
• Category B driver's license

• Experience working in public or politically governed organizations

The position is a permanent full-time employment (100%) with Karlskrona Municipality, based in Karlskrona. Start date by agreement. A trial period may be applied. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
