About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now recruiting more staff. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation services, remand facilities, and prisoner transport. Job Description As a legal counsel in the Legal Affairs Section – Enforcement, Criminal Law, etc., you will provide legal advice to the agency's management and to other parts of the organization within enforcement legislation, criminal law, procedural law, and related matters. You will work continuously to provide legal support in change and development processes and will also contribute to legal governance within the authority. The work also includes responsibility for revising and monitoring the agency's regulations, general guidelines, and other governing documents. You will prepare and present the agency's statements on referrals and develop proposals for statements to, among others, the Parliamentary Ombudsman and the Chancellor of Justice. The work may also include preparing submissions regarding legislative changes to the Government. You will provide support in legal proceedings, represent the Swedish Prison and Probation Service in court, and make decisions in certain compensation and damages cases. Work as a legal counsel is independent and varied. The work involves ongoing contact with, among others, the Government Offices, other authorities, and other parts of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. There are good opportunities for remote work of up to 60 percent depending on individual circumstances. The work location for this position is either Malmö, Gothenburg, Stockholm, or Norrköping. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is analytical and has the ability to identify solutions to complex issues. You have good judgment and make correct assessments even in situations where multiple interests or perspectives need to be considered. You are responsive, communicative, and enjoy working together with others. At the same time, you work independently, take great responsibility for your tasks, and are committed to delivering high quality in everything you undertake.
