About the Role
Do you want to work with technical solutions that make a real difference – both today and for future energy supply? As an Obsolescence Engineer at Forsmark, you will have a key role in ensuring the availability of critical components in one of Sweden's most important energy facilities.
Obsolescence is a growing global problem as many nuclear power plants have been in operation for a long time, more components become obsolete and can no longer be procured. As most facilities aim for longer operation than originally planned, this problem becomes increasingly important to address.
About the Role
As an obsolescence engineer, you will be part of the Components group within maintenance technology at Forsmark, which is responsible for the procurement and management of spare parts and obsolete equipment. In this role, you will work proactively to manage the aging of technical equipment in order to find replacements. You identify risks, find solutions, and contribute to ensuring sustainable and long-term operation of the facility. You may also participate in various projects and specialist groups together with other departments or Nordic nuclear power plants, where you exchange experiences to raise the collective level of knowledge in the field.
Your main responsibilities:
Identify and analyze obsolete technical equipment
Develop and propose replacement components for discontinued products
Initiate and drive investigations regarding replacement solutions as needed
Collaborate closely with maintenance engineers, technical department, procurement, and suppliers
Maintain, update, and further develop the obsolescence database
Train and coach internal Forsmark personnel in obsolescence management
Actively participate in national and international networks and interest groups
Requirements

We see that you have:
Technical education, at least high school level (post-secondary education is a merit)
Experience or knowledge within, for example, mechanics, electrical, instrumentation and control equipment (I&C)
Good communication skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
It is a merit if you have:
Experience from nuclear power or process industry
Knowledge within electrical, I&C, or mechanical systems
Experience working in SAP

Buses to and from Forsmark are adapted to daytime staff working hours. We also offer work buses with wireless network on the routes Gävle-Forsmark and Uppsala-Forsmark, which give you the opportunity to use travel time as work time if/when work allows. You also have the opportunity to use our remote workplaces in Gävle and Uppsala or work from home if/when work allows.
