Who are we?
Östgötamusiken has a regional mission to provide everyone in Östergötland access to live music of high quality at a professional level and to work broadly across several genres. Östgötamusiken has strong grassroots support throughout Östergötland and actively seeks new challenges through collaborations with freelance artists, conductors, soloists, and ensembles. Hundreds of concerts are held in the region each year. We have 17 full-time employed musicians who are active in Östgöta Blåsarsymfoniker and in the ensembles Östgöta Brasskvintett, Crusellkvintetten, and Östgötabandet.
Scenkonst Öst creates performing arts with both breadth and excellence – for everyone in Östergötland. The company was founded in 2016 and brings together Östgötamusiken, Norrköpings Symfoniorkester, and Östgötateatern with Ung Scen Öst. In addition to the artistic activities, there is operational support including communications, HR, IT, finance, and facilities. Our core values of courage, respect, and participation permeate the entire organization.
About the Position
Östgötamusiken is now seeking a double bass player who wants to help develop both the music and the audience experience in the region. As a double bass player, you will be employed as a full-time musician, which means you will participate in rehearsals, preparations, and concerts with Östgötabandet and Östgöta Blåsarsymfoniker. Östgötabandet is Östgötamusiken's jazz ensemble consisting of four woodwind players, piano, bass, and drums. As a double bass player at Östgötamusiken, you will also play electric bass.
A large part of the work involves performing for children, young people, and seniors, which requires you to enjoy communicating with audiences and be able to meet different target groups in a safe and engaged manner.
Your Profile
We are looking for a professional musician with a higher education degree in music and experience in orchestra/ensemble playing at a high professional level. You are passionate about your instrument and have some experience with cross-genre projects. Since the position largely involves chamber music productions for children, young people, and seniors where audience dialogue is included, you need to be able to communicate in Swedish. Experience in chamber music is an asset.

Auditions will be held by invitation on September 16, 2026 at Östgötamusiken's premises in Linköping. A pianist will be available.
