About the position As a contact nurse with us, you primarily care for patients with bladder cancer and prostate cancer. Karolinska has the regional responsibility for patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer undergoing robot-assisted cystectomy. At our facility, patients with prostate cancer are investigated and treated. The contact nurse is an important part of the team around these patients and has overall responsibility throughout the care continuum. The contact nurse is responsible for creating accessibility, continuity, security and strengthening the patient's opportunities for participation in care. The role of contact nurse also includes providing support during normal crisis reactions for the patient and their next of kin. Your work as a contact nurse consists largely of supportive and informative conversations during clinic visits and telephone consultations. We work according to the national job description for contact nurses. The contact nurse participates in diagnosis disclosure and multidisciplinary conferences, establishes/revises My Care Plan, assesses the need for cancer rehabilitation and establishes a rehabilitation plan. You have your own patient responsibility and are responsible for planning and follow-up of your patients through the various stages of the care process.
