Art Technician for the Department of Culture

The Department of Culture has approximately 800 employees working primarily in libraries, cultural centers, museums, and other cultural activities. About the Position Göteborg Konst is part of the Culture and Community Development division within the Department of Culture at the City of Gothenburg. The unit works with public art in the city's shared environments, both indoors and outdoors. The operation is responsible for the city's art collection, several donation funds, and record management, and serves as an advisory and producing support to the city's administrations and companies in their work with art projects according to the one-percent rule. We are now seeking an art technician for a temporary position at 50 percent who wants to contribute to creating good conditions for art in Gothenburg. In this role, you will work with placing, installing, and managing art collections in the city's municipal facilities. You are responsible for practical tasks related to art handling, such as transport, packing, framing, installation, and dismantling of artworks. The work also includes registration, inventory, and documentation of art collections. The position involves both independent work and close collaboration with colleagues and other operations. Work is scheduled during daytime hours, Monday to Friday. The temporary position runs from October 1, 2026 to April 30, 2027. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has: A degree in artistic education or other relevant education or experience that the employer considers equivalent Experience handling fragile objects, such as packing, transport, installation, and dismantling Experience assessing artistic techniques Good knowledge of modern and contemporary art Good computer skills Knowledge of the Microsoft Office package A valid Class B driver's license It is meritorious if you have: Experience working with art in public environments Experience with inventory work Knowledge of languages in addition to Swedish, particularly languages common among Gothenburg's larger language groups Who Thrives in This Role?
