About the Position
We are now seeking a design engineer for our engineering department in Linköping.
This is a broad design engineering role where you work with mechanical design in both 2D and 3D, while maintaining a clear focus on manufacturability and how our products function in actual production.
The role involves you being part of the entire chain from design and product development to ensuring that solutions work in production. You become an important link between design and production, working closely with two other design engineers, where you share responsibilities and support each other daily. All three team members work with design, product development, and production-related matters, but this role has an extra emphasis on ensuring that designs are robust, cost-effective, and adapted for production.
You will also play an important role in driving minor improvement initiatives and contributing to sub-projects related to both product and production.
Your Responsibilities
The role combines design, production engineering, and planning. Examples of work tasks include:
Design and update drawing documentation in CAD (Autodesk Inventor 3D and AutoCAD 2D)
Work with part structures and technical documentation in PLM systems
Ensure manufacturability (DFM) and cost-effective design
Participate in improvement work related to products, tools, and production
Support production, supply chain, quality, lab, and sales with technical questions
Participate in work involving tools, fixtures, and production equipment
Assist in verifications, tests, and technical evaluations
Take on sub-project responsibility in development and customer projects you are involved in
An important part of the role is close collaboration with production, where a key aspect is regularly visiting the factory yourself, asking questions, and translating them into your design work.
Who Are You?
We believe you are a design engineer who thrives at the intersection of design, production, and product development. You enjoy understanding how things work in practice and are driven to create solutions that function all the way from drawing to finished product.
To fit this role, it is important that you are organized, unpretentious, and solution-oriented, and that you thrive in a role where you can take responsibility, drive sub-projects, and have many contact points in the organization.
We would like to see that you have:
Engineering education in mechanical engineering or equivalent
Experience with mechanical design and technical drawing work
Good CAD skills
Understanding of manufacturing methods in mechanics/sheet metal
Experience with technical documentation and change management in PDM/PLM
Good knowledge of Swedish and English, spoken and written
Meritorious:
Experience from manufacturing industry in broad technical roles
Experience with manufacturability, DFM, or industrialization
Experience with tools, fixtures, or production equipment
Experience with improvement work in production or product development
Experience with sub-project management or technical responsibility in projects
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., M3, IFS, or Monitor)
