Communications Department The Communications Department at Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) is seeking a communications officer for a permanent position based in Uppsala. About the Position As a communications officer, you will work broadly with both strategic and operational communications. The role has a particular focus on internal communications, but you will work across several of the university's communication channels and with both internal and external audiences. You will be part of a team working closely with university leadership and operations, providing advisory services, communications planning, and implementation. The role involves being a proactive communications support to managers and leaders, helping develop their ability to communicate clearly, engagingly, and in alignment with operations. An important part of the assignment is to provide communications support to SLU's environmental analysis activities and help make the results of this socially important work visible. You will also contribute to the development of the university's internal communications and work with editorial content for both internal and external channels. Key responsibilities include: strategic and operational communications support to leadership and operations, with particular focus on ongoing environmental analysis communications support to managers and leaders in their communications efforts planning, implementation, and follow-up of communications initiatives development of internal communications editorial work for internal and external channels press and media relations web publishing and content production You will be responsible for your own processes, assignments, and development areas and will drive your work independently in close collaboration with colleagues and operations. Your Background We are looking for someone with a university degree in communications or equivalent education or experience that the employer deems comparable. You have several years of experience in qualified communications work. We would like you to have experience with: providing communications support to managers or leaders both internal and external communications planning, implementing, and following up communications initiatives based on operational goals press and media relations web publishing and digital channels driving communications processes from idea to implementation and follow-up effects-based communications work working in a larger organization, government agency, municipality, or region communications within research, environment, or sustainability areas supporting operations with complex societal mandates SLU is a bilingual university. You therefore need to communicate fluently in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing. Personal Qualities To succeed in this role, you need to be strategic, organized, and flexible. You have a talent for building trusting relationships and work well with people at different levels in the organization. You enjoy switching between strategic discussions and practical implementation and find both advisory work and content production stimulating tasks. You are enterprising, unpretentious, and have the ability to drive matters forward while remaining responsive to operational needs. We are looking for someone with an interest in environmental and sustainability issues and who is motivated by communicating knowledge that contributes to sustainable use of our natural resources. Great weight will be placed on personal suitability. About Us The Communications Department holds the strategic and overall responsibility for the university's internal and external communications. The department is responsible for university-wide communications and marketing of SLU's education, research, environmental analysis, and veterinary services. We manage and develop the university's digital presence and communications infrastructure, are responsible for visual communications and the SLU brand, and handle media contacts while providing the organization with communications support.
